Only watching a couple of minutes per round, I had Armstrong taking it by a couple of points.

Real hard fight to judge because of the lack of sound to gauge the hardness of the hits being landed. Armstrong seems to be putting more behind his shots, but Armstrong was getting jolted because of the big size advantage that Ceferino enjoyed.

Nevertheless I had Garcia winning rounds 1 and 7, Armstrong the rest with the exception of rounds 3,8 and 10 which were pretty much even.:good

It always struck me the amount of people who gave Chavez rounds in this fight for just coming forward.
Whats the point in scoring aggression if it isnt effective?

If this fight was boiled down to just one round..I would just about have it a 10-8 for Sweet Pea.

Whitaker was a modern-day Willie Pep. He nearly shut out Chavez. At times Chavez looked frozen. It was Chavez' first loss and Whitaker should be recognized for it.

By the way, I am a huge Chavez fan.

Whitaker won this fight going away. How this became a draw I have no idea, but it shouldn't have been.

Do you have a copy and if so is it Ian Darke, Paul Demspey and co? I taped all the live bills back then and still have most, if not all of them- (unless my brother taped porn over one or two, which did happen) and I don't think that was one of them. I distinctly remember having to watch it delayed on ITV. It could have been on some cable channel and we didn't have it- but we has sky sports etc.

Sorry about that mate, I thought you genuinely scored it that way. :good

You are right by the way but I think the thread's author is basically saying "we know who won but this is my card".

Whitaker was robed not only of the decision but also of his place in history.
