I know but im using that at as example of how Whitaker would fight exclusively from long range in his biggest fights and use his legs and how that cost him some of his biggest fights, Ramirez, DLH, Chavez. We know he dominated the Ramirez fight but the way he fought the last 3/4 rounds is what probably lost him that fight.
Hold on.... Im definitely no DLH fan but if your gonna mention DLHs wins vs Sturm & Quartey & put question marks over one & flat out say he lost the other then at least be fair & do the same with the Trinidad & 2nd Mosely fights, Oscar clearly won those fights (if you dont agree that he won those fights, please dont respond to this post, just move along because we`ll hit a dead end unless your willing to change your mind :thumbsup)
Im a message board poster not friggin Max Kellerman lol. How about I'll meet you half way but there no way I'm ****en agreeing that DLH CLEARLY beat Mosley in even a stare down. Yes both fights were close but in my opinion DLH did better in the first fight. DLH lost a close fight withSturm but won on cards. DLH struggled with Quartey but won on cards. DLH won a close fight with Trinidad but lost on cards. DLH lost a close fight with Mosely but lost on cars. Bottom line is DLH is overrated. He is a true warrior and deserves as much credit as can be given but he really isnt what he is hyped up to be. He lost every fight that mattered in his career after he beat the coke head and the senior citizen.
Mosely won the 1st fight close but clear.... DLH won the 2nd fight clear but clear.... that was a poor decision. They should be 1-1, Oscar has no argument for winning that 1st fight & Mosely has no argument for winning that 2nd fight (except 3 fat blind pricks which I dont count anyway) Ps. I agree DLH is overrated by a lot of people but he won that Mosely fight, a drunken blind man can see that.
DLH was **** in that fight, but IMO Whitaker just didn't do enough to win. I think if he had focused and not clowned so much, he would have won. But he didn't, and DLH rightly got the decision.
I just rewatched the fight last night...It's on youtube. Turn off the audio. Anyway, ODLH seriously won the fight, and clear. He landed the more significant punches, while Whitaker was clowning around and just pumping an uneffective jab continously. Throughout the fight you can see DLH trying to make the fight, you can see that the ONLY head snapping back was Whitaker's, and that ODLH was the agressive one. Whitaker had very little success throughout the fight, while Oscar had the better of exchanges everytime, and the harder stiffer jab. The fight is on youtube. It's actualy a great fight, with both trying to counter punch, and with DLH also pressuring, and throwing combinations. At couple time it turns into a full out tactical brawl.
Whitaker landed more jabs on DLH, true... But watch the fight, they were weak ass jabs that didn't even snap DLH's head back. Whitaker was the only one who's head was looked like a bobble head. DLH landed the the better shots through out the entire fight. Pea just pumped the jab over and over and most of them missed, and the ones that landed were so weak because they had no power behind them. Clowning does not win fights. Infact, everytime Pea clowned was either after DLH landed some hard shots that CLEARLY hurt Pea, or everytime Pea got too defensive, where instead of countering DLH, he would just start acting a fool and dance around. As for the KD...It was pathetic. Clearly not a KD, but DLH's left leg getting tangled with Pea's right leg. NOT a KD.
Sliding or not sliding he was P4P#1 at the time, he was linear champ at welterweight, and it was Oscar's first fight at welter vs a stylistic nightmare for him. ****, a more shot to hell version of Whitaker gave Trinidad all he could handle two years later, what would the Whitaker that fought Oscar have done. The Whitaker Oscar fought was beginning his slide but was still the greatest of the welters when Oscar faced him. The Whitaker "slide" also coincides with the stacking up of the welter division which would solidify into one of the best division periods in history.
This fight proves how great Whitaker was, he arguably beat(or had a very close fight) against a prime Oscar when he was already past it.
Yes it is. The controversy and lack of kd's (legitimate ones, not that slip in the fight) take the attention off of the chess match. .
