Here's highlights of Pea-McGirt II by the way, if anyone wants to relive some of it's better moments. (Sorry for its shitty quality though....)

Watch it if you like only to relive the 10 punch combination Whitaker throws at McGirt (about 9 punches landing) at the end of the first part (and replayed at the start of the second part) Pure brilliance. One of the best combinations ever thrown.

I'd take Quartey vs Espana over Mosley vs DLH.

sweet_scientist, Whitaker versus McGirt I is one of the top 2 if it isn't the best welterweight fight of the past 20 years. Mosley versus De la Hoya is right up there with it. Mosley vs. De la Hoya featured two fighters in there primes. While it was to a degree technical, it featured more of a battle of athleticism. McGirt and Whitaker was a technical battle of the highest quality at a fast pace. Personally, I preferred McGirt vs Whitaker.

I don't have a problem with those that like Mosley and De la Hoya I better.

Whitaker and McGirt's 2nd bout was two one side in the 2nd half for me to think of it as one of the best of the past 20 years. It was entertaing, but there have been too many closer struggles to be in that class. I honestly thought Whitaker could have stopped McGirt in their 2nd encounter had he been so inclined.

A very good chess match yes, but not an action packed Barnburner. McGirt had a more action packed fight with Simon Brown.

both fighters in theyre prime fighting at home it displayed great skills at a high speed and lots of action, some shift in the momentum of the fight with DLH coming out agressive and winning most of the early rounds and Mosley coming on midway through the fight culminating in a great final round.

for me its one of the most underrated fights .

Agree on your athleticism call regarding on DLH-Mosley I and I also agree that the one-sided nature of the second half of McGirt-Whitaker II takes away from it's quality as a great fight.

Whitaker could and probably should have pressed for a KO, but I'm not sure he would have stopped Buddy. Buddy was obviously gassing, but he didn't have quit in him and his chin was good. Even when he was stopped against Meldrick Taylor I thought Al Certo pulled him out to soon. I would have been indignant if I was Buddy, not being able to complete that fight.

Was pretty action packed. Espana didn't stop throwing punches. Might have been able to pull out that fight if he was a tad more judicious with what he threw.
