How's it compare to others in his weight class?

He was active for 13 years, more or less. Not the longest career out there, but I'm curious how many quality fighters you feel he faced in that span of time?

He certainly boxed more than a few of these guys multiple times and had no problem clearing up any doubts there were in a few of his fights.

Thoughts? Did he miss anyone over the years?

Off hand, I'd say of fighters he could have reasonably fought, he missed fighting Hector Camacho and Meldrick Taylor. Two terrific fighters in fact.

Whitaker indeed ducked Chavez when he skipped the 140 lbs weight class and went on to fight at Welterweight.

Alot of fighters make a climb up in weight for the sake of adding a belt in a different weight division, Whitaker did that when he fought JC Vasquez, the consensus real champ in that Jr. Middleweight division was Terry Norris!

It does'nt take away from the obvious fact that Whitaker had a fine talent.
But there are fights out there that could have been made, that for whatever reason were not.
Simply stated, Whitaker did not fight everyone there was to fight during his generation, some of you guys around here seem to think that he did.
