If you're looking for a Lee Savold type who never actually won an alphabet belt Curtis Sheppards a good one. While he was competitive he struggled to win the big fight and for every big win he had several big losses. Sheppard lost fights for both the HW and LHW duration belts to Lee Murray and Lloyd Marshall. He was mostly a HW though the LHW title fight was his only fight at the weight class he got as a injury substitution. Record was 52-33 and didn't last to the 50s like Savold did. But like Savold and Chisora hes the guy with the great SOS who loses a lot but could come close to beating top guys. Sheppard has nearly the exact same KO rate as Chisora, 65.4 to Chisoras 65.7.
Didn't Savold own the EBU and BBBofC version of the title in 1951? I feel he was better than Chisora who could only be best described as a gatekeeper unlike Savold, who was a top ranked contender for several years. Edit: I got you wrong there, I must admit. Yes, Sheppard is a good example.
Just curious, you'd say a 50s BBBoC title is a better title than a 2019 WBO Intercontinental? : definitely
I’m not sure if he would stop him, but I think he would definitely beat him. He beat better fighters than Chisora for sure. His demolition of Shavers, his outclassing of Lyle. Foster, Patterson, Spencer.
Botha got an absolutely gift decision against Schulz while being on juice. So no. And in fact Chisora has MUCH better list of wins compared to Botha. Botha's resume in winning column is atrocious
