I’ve heard on this forum that Sammy Angott was really good at controlling inside fighters. Any others?
James Toney, Floyd Mayweather, Hopkins, Calzaghe are a few that come to mind. I want to say Holyfield, but on second thought I’m thinking he was more just great at fighting on the inside himself than neutralizing his opponents.
Andre Ward was great at it. I remember how often he would control one of his opponent's arms in in the clinch and would block the side of his head on the opposite side to defend against his opponent's hooks.
This is about recognizing, appreciating and celebrating true greatness in the hope that we can convince others to do the same.
Wladimir Klitschko. It's hard to have an inside game when he's pressing your head between your knees.
