He didn't come to fight against Canelo. He signed up to the Jacobs clause which was don't throw hard punches and hurt Canelo for the first 6 rounds. Extremely suspect fight and I absolutely believe there was some behind the scenes shady dealing. Not at all out of the realms of possibility given what we saw with Kovalev against Canelo.

Golovkin goes from being able to dominate a bigger Murata (who punches harder than Canelo) with thunderous jabs all night, yet he can't at least throw (not land...just simply throw) hard jabs at the rather static Canelo. This wasn't the Canelo we saw from fights 1 and 2, he was very much static and flat footed for this fight. He was also just looping in punches rather than using his skills and punch variety. Yet Golovkin was not throwing any stiff/hard jabs, the kind of stuff he was throwing and landing against a much more elusive Canelo in fight 1 and 2, and the weight he put behind his punches in the immediate fight prior against Murata.

Golovkin in my opinion can still take on anyone at 160. The guy is a master boxer. He'd outbox anyone at the weight, even at this age..it comes down how outsized he is against his opponent and inactivity

Everybody at MW (I think Adames is probably the best MW minus Golovkin and yeah I think Golovkin still beats him.)

I think Golovkin would also probably be a top 7ish SMW.

GGG didn’t even look good against Murata. He was getting hit way too much and gassed out a few times. He kept backing up from Murata with his hands down just to catch a breather. I didn’t think the third Canelo fight was a fix, G was just too damn old to handle another serious fight with Canelo. I also think it was a bit of an underrated performance by G, he actually landed a lot of good shots in the later rounds and used his jab well.

He started too late against Clenelo and it cost him.

Had he started 2 rounds earlier, he would have won. That’s the crazy part.

    Hard to say.

IMO, considering his age, he looked good vs Murata, but quite faded vs Canelo.

Id pick Janibek over him today.

He might have enough to edge current Charlo, Adames, Lara, Ewbank, Munguia.

Still beats Gualtieri, Zerafa, Falcao, Liam Smith, Cash
