I’d say Mike is the post-1980 dirtiest fighter. But as mentioned elsewhere, Mysterious Billy Smith was in a class by himself.

 

I read somewhere that Timothy Bradley didnt shower for a week leading up to his fights.
Thats pretty dirty.

 

No body mentioned Andre The Head butting , Nut crushing, Mauler Ward, of recent years?? He fouled every fight he was in

 

Well most certainly any fighter Panama Lewis worked with had some cheat code even Aaron Pryor....as far as Resto? possibly outside the fight that got him banned with Billy Collins he was unremarkable

 

I remember hearing Marvin "Pops" Johnson had a similar tactic. His wife had to keep reminding him to shower after he retired.

I used to have a 25 minute video on YouTube going through the different fouls in boxing and showing examples.

Eusebio Pedroza was in it a lot, as was B-Hop, Mike Tyson, Andrew Golota. Terry Norris had a lot on the section of “hitting guys on the ground”

Freddie Norwood was in a lot on the Derrick Gainer fight alone.

10 bucks says you're a Tyson fan. No way Holyfield was more dirty than someone like Zivic or Saddler.

 

I remember reading about Kid McCoy dropping tacks on the boxing ring when he noticed his opponent didn't have shoes.

Also, Battlin' Nelson must have been awfully dirty to manage to get himself DQ'd despite having everything stacked in his favor as the challenger to Joe Gan's title.

From there he would go on to beat the shell of Gans as Gans was wasting away from tuburculosis. Rough times.

Some favorites of mine were extremely rough and could probably be named as dirty. Dempsey's lowish blows against Sharkey, Max Baer's backhands against Max Schmelling, Tom Sharkey's general rough tactics.

That was really wild. Jon Jones did that same move against Glover Teixeira in a UFC title fight (0:50 of the video). But that is legal in MMA, lol. Crazy that Tyson would try that in multiple boxing fights. And, again, it's crazy that he didn't get disqualified for that. That's not like an accidental headbutt or a elbowing your opponent after missing with a left hook. That was a submission attempt in a Queensberry rules boxing match. You're not wrong. Tyson was extremely dirty.

WK was the dirtiest fighter of all time for the simple reason his fouls weren't spontaneous or 'of the moment' , his whole boxing construct was built on a foundation of cheating.
He actively and consciously formed his whole fight camp around a style that was totally illegal.

When he couldn't implement fouling into a fight he lost badly i.e Brewster and Tyson Fury. Or badly exposed against Bryant Jennings who had the NYC athletic commision intervene before the fight.

You also had illegal spongy ring canvas designed to limit the opponents movement because Wlad didn't like guys who could box and move.
