When was this actually proven, incidentally? I must have missed it because outside of some hearsay on here I haven't seen anything that actually confirms it.

And I ask you instead of the OP because your value as a source against him is infinitely better

This. Szpilka was in no way winning that fight. Spzpilka is faster than most heavyweights and came in great shape for the Wilder fight, so it took a little longer for Wilder to land a clean shot on him, but once Wilder did it was all over.

Good question. @Serge and I did a series of posts with evidence awhile ago, I'll try to dig it up.

Perhaps the strongest evidence is an interview where Ortiz says that he was inspired by watching Muhammad Ali fight "live" for world titles as a kid. Now Ali's last world title fight was in 1980, and I don't believe that statement makes a lot of sense if Ortiz was only a 1 yr old.

Also I should note that within the industry basically everyone accepts that Ortiz is 40-something, although in fairness I should also note that his skills and ability are still highly respected despite the age.

Aye, I'd heard bits like that but to me that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm happy to accept the idea he might have capped 2-3 year off his age, it happens, but this 50 year old stuff is nonsense. Wlad's age in the AJ fight gets mentioned but not with the same vitriol that Ortiz's does

Exactly. Wilder never focuses on winning rounds against non-punchers. The only time he changed strategies and focused on rounds was against Stiverne in 2015, since Stiverne was durable and had power and kept countering Wilder whenever Wilder tried to get space to throw his powershots. Wilder have up on the knockout and used his jab to cruise to an easy decision win.

Wilder also didn't need rounds against Ortiz either, since Ortiz was a complete sucker for Wilder's right hand and it was only a matter of time before Ortiz crumbled.

Agreed, the 50 yr old stuff is nonsense, just used to discredit him as a Wilder opponent.

We can't know for sure but the evidence is pretty compelling that he's a few years older than stated. I'm not talking 10+ years.

Stop with the revisionist history! If you want to suck Usky's man meat, by all means, go ahead but, don't come on here spewing nonsense and lies. Spitz was behind in the fight and got brutally knocked out cold by Wilder. Did Spitz make a good showing.....yes! Was he close to winning the fight, No! Stop with the lies, you sack sucker you!

Wilder has chance against anyone if he lands... And I'm far from being Wilder's fan

Unless he looks really bad vs Bellew, Wilder would never fight him in a million years.
