I wouldn't call it 50/50 but its a competitive match up, much more than anyone would have thought just one year ago.

Chavez is a big, strong, durable middleweight who is really going to push Martinez who is now 37. I just think Martinez has too many advantages as far as skill, speed, and experience and will be able to deal with Chavez.

This is a good match up and should be very entertaining but I see Martinez as a 60-40 type of favorite. If they fought a year from now instead I would have probably favored Chavez but I think Martinez is still close enough to his peak(but declining) to win this.

I don't think it's 50-50 but it's not a walk in the park for Maravilla either.

Hard to predict? The guy went through PW and Dzinziruk, beat top class Barker and McKlin all inside 12 and Chavez wins a UD against Duddy, picks up a debatable win against Sbik and stops Andy Lee and this is a 50/50 fight, c'mon!!!

Can't wait for this rich spoiled ***** to be smashed by a late counter left hook. Round 11 and it's all over. The footwork from Sergio and then bang! Down goes Chavez!
Sexy Sergio will make love to this kid.

I actually have Jr. as a slight favorite, something about 60/40. He is so much bigger, quite a bit stronger, and younger.

It is a damn good fight and as close to a 50/50 PPV as we've seen in a while.

I could go with 65/35 in Serge's favor or even 60/40 if I'm feelin' bullish on Jr at a particular moment.

Only on fight night having consumed a few adult beverages while watching the undercard might I convince myself it's 50/50.

chavez handily. too damn big, doesn't have to take drug tests, and martinez has looked very beatable in his last two fights. he's been hit a lot by lesser fighters and definitely smaller fighters. chavez his a favorite, especially since all he has to do is keep the fight close to win, as Robney stated earlier.

My first thoughts were that Martinez was going to towel him up...but I've retreated from that a bit.

Chavez Jr's chin seems solid enough and he is a gigantic middleweight up against a guy who was a welterweight at the same age.
On the topic of age, guys at Sexy Serg's age can go south very rapidly and especially with such a reflex based style.
I think Sergio looked still pretty good in his last two fights...though others disagreed...it's just I think people know how to handle him better now, less mystique...which given Chavez's physical ability and Roach's tactical acumen Serg might not get away with some of the things he does.

I'm still going with Martinez on points...with the cards being closer than they really should be...but my jaw isn't going to hit the ground if Jnr can pull out the win.

A big year for middleweight..I'm just hoping the champs go on with it after this semi final stage.

To me it looks like skill, athleticism, and agility VS. youth size and what seems to be some good durability. Its a good match up but if i was forced to pick right now id give Martinez a 55-45 edge.

70-30 in favour of Martinez, all Chavez has is size and youth.

  14. It's a pick 'em fight folks. It could go either way.

    Martinez by UD/SD
    or
    Chavez by KO/TKO

  15. And power, and momentum.
