I had more than 160 fights and I was never stopped; Jimmy Wilde beaten me but I beaten other 4 HOF's 7 times; I had a draw against "a" Wolgast but it wasn't Ad nor Midget; Twice I was the Undisputed and Lineal Champion of the World in my division; I also beaten "a" Attell but it wasn't Abe; I was born in Saint Andrew's day. Who am I?
Joe Lynch? He was born on St Andrew’s day and I know he lost to Wilde and was never KO’d. That’s about all I know about this tough guy.
Great shout Vic, pretty sure it's Lynch. Top 15 ATG BW for me. Indicates how great Wilde was that as a minimum weight by modern standards he holds wins of 2 x ATG BWs in Lynch and Pal Moore.
Tough as old boots wasn’t he. Imagine having 160 or so fights and never being stopped. You're right about Jimmy Wilde, Greg…he was a special talent wasn’t he. Some people rank him top 10-20 P4P, so no shame in Lynch losing to him.
Agreed mate. Wilde won 10 x lineal Fly title fights and was something like 100(odd)-2 there before he 1st retired. 1 loss to Tancy Lee was avenged, the other a newspaper decision. I rank him as the GOAT at Fly. But its 3 fights vs bigger men that see me rank him all the way up at #16 pfp all time. He was 105lbs, a minimumweight by modern standards. Beating 2 x ATG BWs in Lynch and Moore is astounding. His win over Joe Conn is one of the most underrated in history, imo. 105lbs Minimumweight vs 125lbs FW top 10 contender on a winning streak. Can you imagine the outrage if Panya Pradabrsi signed to fight Mauricio Lara at FW? Obviously such a fight would never be sanctioned, and rightly so, which puts Wilde's victory over Conn into context.
