I fought a few times for the World Title but unfortunately I never won it; My record against World Champions is of 6-6-3; I beat 4 Hall of Famers during the course of my career and I built a winning record against these Legends, consisting of 8-6-4; I scored one KO against one of those HOF's and Champions, and from 1910 till 1919 I fought at least once per year against them; For years and years, many journalists considered me the cleverest boxer in my division and a reference in that department in the entire Boxing panorama; I start fighting professionally at the age of 18 in order to put food on the table of my family. At the time, it looked like the only way possible to help us all, specially after my dad died and I had all these siblings - including a disabled sister - to take care of; Soon after, I realized that to fight was not enough to feed such a big family and I also got this job in a delivery company in between fights; Still struggling to win the necessary money to give myself and my siblings a decent living, I took all the fights I could in the Big Apple, including against many top contenders with way more experience than me; Because of that, I was a very active fighter and in the first 3 years of my career - from my debut till I fought the mighty Abe Attel - I had 40 fights, which means I was having around one fight per month, on average; Although I never won the World Title, I was always considered a major favorite of the fans during an entire decade and also the major rival of all World Champions in my class during that time; Usually, all fans considered my fights as extremely exciting and worth of their money; After the ring announcer read the judges scorecards after my 1st title fight, the majority of the crowd booed the decision because at their eyes I was the better fighter during the entire 20 rounds and even a Draw would be extremely unfair; For years, I worked with Pal Moore to help me to prepare for my upcoming fights; After my retirement, I became a businessman and I achieved a relatively good success as such; Sometimes people mistake me with another fighter from California, U.S.A. but what do they know? Among the tough cookies that I fought and beat, there's Freddie Jacks, Dutch Brandt and Jim Kenrick; I was born in the same week that Raffaele Esposito invented the Pizza Margherita, the forerunner of the modern pizza, named after the Queen Consort of Italy Margherita of Savoy. Who am I?
