Not many people remember me anymore, but I'm a big name of our beloved sport; I had more than 150 fights in my career and I won more than 120; I was never a Champion of the World and you may wonder why; Despite this, I fought pretty much the entire top contenders of the World in my time, despite the weight disadvantage on my side; I beaten 5 Champions of the World and 3 Hall of Famers and all of them would talk about my speed for years; In one year alone, I had 5 fights against HOF's and in another year I had another 4 fights against All Time Greats; In total, I had 20 fights against Legends of the Fistiana; Amongst the great amount of tough fighters that I faced and beat, there's Cy Flynn, Jimmy Handler, Larry Temple and Charlie McKeever; For more than 10 years in a row, I faced everyone I could regardless of their legendary status; I was born long ago, in the same year that Thomas Edison tested his first practical electric light bulb; Who am I?
Well i look forward to one of our clever historians providing the answer, on those details i frankly am lost, i thought perhaps Jackie Blackburn but things don't match up. Once again Gui Dosnera i admire this question style, a challenge, as the fictional detective Poirot used to say must use "little grey cells"
George Cole, the guy from Minder? I knew Dennis Waterman did some real life boxing, but Arthur Daley? Turn it up. No way. More seriously, I really like @Gui Dosnera ‘s inclusion of historical context - in this instance, Edison’s testing of the first practical light globe. It adds a nice flavour to the questions.
