Sure, I had my share of controversial decisions in my career, both in my favor and also against me. That said, one thing no one can deny was that in my time I was a real top fighter and one of the best fighters in the World, specially later on; I was the Lineal and Undisputed Champion of the World in one particular division; I went 6-13-1 against Champions of the World, and I beat 6 of them; I went 4-14-1 against Hall of Famers, and I beat 4 of them; I won more than 100 fights in my career and I scored more than 50 KO's; From 1917 to 1927 I faced at least 1 HOF per year; Amongst the top fighters that I faced and beat, there's Paul Berlenbach, Johnny Basham, Joe Eagan, Silent Martin and Billy Vidabeck; Just a couple hours before my first World Title fight, a landmine exploded near the venue. I was threatened to death and my opponent was escorted by armed guards on their way to the place of the fight and somehow they managed to avoid an ambush too; To be franc, I think I was gifted the win in that fight; Many people say I was a very controversial fighter and champion, but the same people agree that I faced many of the best in my time too; I managed my career carefully, true, but that allowed me to go into retirement as a very wealthy man. Sure I lost most of my wealth due to the crash in 1929 and because of some crook too, but at least I tried; I was born in the same Month and Year as the premiere of the "The Nutcracker" ballet of Tchaikovsky in the Imperial Mariinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg, Russia; Who am I?
Hey buddy you are bringing culture to the forum, The ballet, ok a ballet about a a certain Polish boxer with a penchant for testing Bowes foul cup on a couple of occasions. Grateful for your continuing to put such efforts into posting these "Who am i" questions, they generally are answered by time i view them, but hey lot of interesting facts are presented by you in the question.
Gotta agree. I’ve missed quite a few of these questions recently, but when I log on and see them, not knowing most of the answers I admit, I take note of all the information in the questions and store it in my memory, ready to use at a later date if need be, to show off to my pals Seriously though to GD, keep the questions coming…I’m learning a lot.
Cinderella debuted as a ballet in 1893 but sadly wasn’t adapted to make a Cinderella Man after Braddock beat Baer. Nureyev would have been a brilliant Max Baer.
Might have struggled to look the part lacking in height and weight, with regard to Max being a lover of the ladies, Nureyev was less so in that department. Max Baer of course was not averse to 'dancing' This content is protected
