These clues are for different people:- 1) After a successful amatuer career, I boxed for the HW world title in my 1st pro fight, putting the champ down in the 2nd round but eventually losing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) I have boxed more championship rounds than anyone else in history (339) and have won titles at WW and MW.
This one is thanks to McGrain --------------------- - I was born in 1929 in Nigeria - Became light heavyweight and middleweight champion - Fought and beat Rubin 'The Hurricane' Carter *Who Am I ?
I had a 21-5 amateur record. Soon after I turned pro, I was called for a two year tour of duty in the US Army. I suffered my first pro loss when I came back rusty from the 2 year layoff, but quickly turned things around. At my peak, I made it into Ring Magazine's top 5 Lightheavyweights. I was an original Kronk Gym fighter.
As an amateur, I beat both John Ruiz and Jeremy Williams, despite the size disadvantage. As a pro, I was WBC world champion.
