Or in other words, which version of Canelo was the best? The one who fought Mayweather, GGG, Bivol, or Crawford? You could also argue that being the first to beat the undefeated Canelo and setting the blueprint before all the others has merit in its own right. But personally, I go with GGG.
Ggg fought the best version of Canelo but considering the disadvantages held by Mayweather and Crawford, I'd still have to rate their wins higher than his (had he gotten the decision in either fight). Between Crawford and Mayweather I give the edge to Bud. Went to Canelo's weight, no rehydration clause, took all the belts from him while having never fought at 160 let alone 168.
As for excitement, I would still rate the trilogy above the others. Bivol's performance was perhaps the least exciting of the four. Mayweather’s boxing clinic would come right after. And I think Crawford made it way more interesting than Bivol.
Bivol beat Canelo when he was @ the height of his career & coming off his best run of wins of his career. The Bivol loss marked a very distinct turning point in Canelo's career trajectory.
I agree. Canelo was at the peak of his career and his prime in this fight. He was rated #1 P4P (even if he doesn't deserve it) and Bivol was a 5-1 underdog. Bivol derailed Canelo and turned him into cherry picker.
Agreed, although Bivol actually beat up Canelo. The other guys mostly schooled him. Bivol actually put the pain on Canelo. Which you expect from the biggest man, but still. It was impressive to see Canelo actually roughed up.
