Who should be further ahead in their career?

Are we all going to say Frankie Gavin or are their alternatives to this title?

    Kell Brook.

Not all his own fault a lot was due to bad management and matchmaking under Frank.

I have a fear that Gavin will go down in history as potential unfulfilled he doesnt want to be mentioned with the Kirkland Laings of this world when historians look back.

Would also like to add Joe Selkirk into that mix should be British champion by now. Not entirely his fault.

At least with Laing he has a few notable win's on his record, including Duran.

    Gavin has Young Mutley.

Gavin will do well to get anywhere near Laing at this rate.

If someone had said that after three and a half years as a pro, his best win is over a man who used to play football for a living you'd have laughed at them.

Best of luck to him, but at 27 Hatton was pretty much past his best and led a similar lifestyle to the one that Gavin is well known for.

Signing an extra deal with Allegedly was a bad mistake.

    Nathan Cleverly for me.

Ok he as the title, but the circumstances in which he acquired it weren't the most impressive.

As a World Champion he should be achieving far more, so for me he is the most 'underachieving' there is.

I like him, think he has real potential, but at the moment his 'reign' is simply embarassing, it doesn't actually feel like it could get any worse (unless he loses that is).

So Nathan Cleverly has won British, Commonwealth, European, interim and a 'world' title yet he has underachieved?

What did you expect him to have done? Beat a Klitschko? 3 weight world champ? Fair enough complain about his opposition but in no way has he underachieved.

The thing that really irks me with Gavin is you get the feeling that he is fairly content with where he is at like he has already kind of hit the heights being world amateur champ.

With Degale he was frustrated about lack of fights and chances rightly or wrongly you get the feeling he is hungry for success. Similar sort of thing with Bellew regardless of the rights and wrongs of if he deserved the rematch the reason he is angry is because he wants the fights.

Gavin seems fairly happy at the pace he is going. He doesnt feel like he is underachieving. There seems to be little urgency from him. He has got a good contract and he gets a good purse for his fights because of that and it doesnt really matter whether its British Euro or world.

    Seems that way.

He might prove me wrong and I hope he does, but the red carpet treatment certainly went to his head.

I suppose like most people, if you're getting more money than what you really need or more than what you're worth for the job you're doing, you slacken off and get sloppy.

Gavin is certainly one of those.

You raise an interesting point what would have been better for Haye. His current resume having moved up to heavyweight or staying a crusier and becoming "The Man" for the past few years dominating. Say the usual CW chaff defences and a few wins over Huck, Cunningham and Adamek?

I wouldn't call him an underachiver either but i reckon he should fight Braehmer to validate the "World Title", big fan of Naths but i find his career to date very frustrating , he should have used the excellent win over the tough Bellew as a spring board to better still opponents but his career has stalled since then & now to add to that frustration his next fight has fallen through apparently due to Don King .

Cleverly needs to fight more. Needs to stay busy. On sky sports he was being shown and being built up as the next star (like kell brook is now) but on box nation his fights havent impressed (apart from bellew) needs to stay active and start gettin big names over to fight him (Fish eyes has matched him poorly which has made fans grown frustrated)

A while back Cleverly wasn't seen as much more than a decent domestic prospect, so if anything he's over achieved.

It's just now with him having got this far, to spoil it by having an utterly wank trainer taking him backwards and some awful matchmaking, seeing him in with the likes of Sugar Tommy Karpency.

You'd have to back Bellew to waste him in a rematch, should it happen.
