    Paul Appleby was one fight away from a shot at Burns not too long ago. Sometimes Appleby looks great but he seems very shopworn for a young guy, now.

    I think many of us, including me, went overboard about Appleby initially because he was doing what a good prospect ought to be doing to low level journeymen.

    Looking at the careers of our best boxers, their early careers all read TKO2, KO1, TKO3 etc in the first couple of years - it's a decent formline IMO.

    If you're struggling to get rid of pretty crap journeymen you aren't going all that far. Appleby was, so it was easy to think he was a top prospect.
