Who are some good fighters who are still relevant, but are going through a bad patch?

Machida has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights, the sole victory being the KO of a nearly 50-year old Randy Couture in Couture's last fight.

But I really like the guy, and I think he's a lot better than that indicates.

Okay, he got flattened by a highly motivated Shogun, and I had him losing the first fight. I'm not going to talk **** on him for that. No shame in losing to Shogun.

I thought he beat Rampage, but he didn't do it clearly enough to make the win a formality, so I'm not incredibly upset with the loss. He left a reasonably close fight in the hands of the judges while knowing that his opponent was the aggressor all through the fight.

And he got crushed by Jones, big deal. He fought very well and troubled Bones a little bit, even seeming to win the first round. But getting smacked around and choked out in a title challenge against Jon Jones doesn't mean anything other than you had the balls to step in there with him.

I reckon Machida is still a very dangerous guy in the division, even if his last few fights don't show it so much.

Who else is in the same sort of situation at the moment?

    Anthony Pettis.
Looks very good at times but then he got wrestle ****ed by guida in the most boring fight in a long time then had a hard decision against Jeremy Stephens but still hangs in there

Tyson Griffin, from a legit contender to 4-1 in his last 5 iirc. Dudes not even 30 yet so cant say it's time catching up with him or he is shot. I am at a loss to explain how hos career went off the rails so quickly

People are likely to disagree but; Dan Hardy.

He's had some tough matchups recently but I'm sure he can bounce back.

I think he was lucky to get the Manvel win as well. He was a good fighter back when he was winning. The Gomi KO was brutal as well :barf

i agree, his takedown defense looked really good in WEC but he looks like hes getting overpowered on the takedowns nowadays. that lose to guida was bull****, guida did nothing but lay on top all fight and defend subs. under circumstances like that the guy actually attempting to fight should be awarded some kind of points (ala Koch-Brookings).

i honestly thought he was gonna steamroll the division in the UFC and be champ by now.

    Mark Homnick?

Good shout on Lyoto, he's still a major player at LHW.

    Machida is the perfect example.

Also there is Rashad with all his injuries.

Josh Koscheck--if diaz or condit beat gsp, i can see koscheck having a good chance of beating diaz or condit.

Machida is the first to spring to mind. Griffin is another good shout.

Yeah Kos is a good call as well. He's dangerous for anybody not named GSP, I reckon.

    George Sotiropoulos.

Had a ****ing hard fight against Siver, was knocked around by a superior striker but managed to hold his own, I think he even won a round on one or two score cards.
Dropped a quick finish to dos Anjos in his most recent fight. He's got some excellent wins over some very tough guys, and he's up against Gomi next in Japan.
