Because 168 has so many killers, nobody seems to talk about gilberto ramirez. He's undefeated and boxes beautifully. Any others you feel don't get enough attention?
Today or ever? The historical list is endless, but I'm happy to have a stab at it. Today, my top 5 are probably John Ryder, Agit Kabayel, Ergashev, Matt Korobov & John Casimero
Sergey Lippents is a guy that impresses me that doesn't get discussed much on the forum. I thought he fought very well against both Mikey Garcia and especially Lamont Peterson. He doesn't do anything great but is a good pressure guy that is solid for being a former kickboxer. I was also really impressed with Lionel Thompson's last fight. He is another guy at 168 that is well rounded. Very solid defensively.
Thompson's boxed a great fight and made Uzcategui look like the clumsy fool he is. Weird how the supposedly slick Andre Dirrell had way more problems with him. In an alternate universe Lionell is a world champ right now.
Speaking of Mikey, I think he's untouchable below 147. Most think Taylor and prograis beat him, I think he schools em.
I don't see cruiserweights either than Usyk get talked about too much but Briedis is pretty damn good, Barring all that crap against Glowacki
Good shout out there. Johnriel Casimero. Also perhaps Maruti Mathalane. Gave Donaire a good fight and beat a young Casimero is well. He is on a tare up right now. Beating Waseem and on a four win winning streak in Japan. Smashing Yaegashi!
Pedro Guevara. Also Miguel Berchelt gets very few mentions for a guy with his record and exciting style.
That’s cuz he’s fought nobody. Sims jr, plant, or Newman beat Ramirez. He’s been brought along slow because my boy Lucius and Terrell gausha gave him the business in the gym. Guy is overrated right now.
Just thinking about this whilst at school, after 10/15 minutes or so, I had these guys. Ezzard Charles Charley Burley Bert Lytell George Benton Lionel Rose Fighting Harada Yuri Arbachakov Gilberto Roman Miguel Canto Billy Graham Luis Rodriguez Charley Burley Mickey Walker Max Schmeling Harold Johnson Willie Pastrano Joey Giardello Joe Brown Carlos Ortiz Dwight Muhammad Qawi John Conteh Archie Moore Chuck Davey John Henry Lewis Lupe Pintor And I could definitely keep going, there's easily 1000.
I'd like to mention Simpiwe Vetyeka. I have the pleasure and honor to see him fight live once when he stopped Daud Yordan in Jakarta. He is a truly underrated smart boxer. He doesn't have big punches and his technique is not exactly first class, but he is very smart and always hits with accuracy and at the right time. His timing is amazingly good for an African boxer. His defense is so good as well. He is also a great guy and speak with respect outside the ring.
