Buddy McGirt has great technical insight and is a natural father-figure adviser to fighters as a chief second. Won the Trainer of the Year award in 2002 and always protected Arturo's, Lamon's and Antonio's physical integrity with clear-headed control. He also done very well lately, bringing back Vernon Forrest to win the WBC Super Welter Strap after very poor performance against Quartey - actually I can't say who gave best advice to Forrest, Shields for the Mosley fights or McGirt now... Tommy Brooks and Georgie Benton gat to be the most intelligent, level headed seconds of late.

I only know what I have seen from him on the Contender...he gave all the fighters, including Codrington, bad advice and he didn't do a good job in their corner...:think

The best in Britain by far, are Brendan Ingle and Enzo Calzaghe.

The best in the USA, Teddy Atlas.

The point here is to control the fighter and specially, correct what he should not be doing without takin confidence away from him or altering drastically studied game plans on the implement stage. In order to do the above mentioned, a trainer has to be very clear minded and has to exert a special close influence on the fighter's mind at a heightened state of emotion. Teddy Atlas can boost up a fighter with a mind case like Tyson, Briggs or Michael Moorer but I don't know who's he training at the moment. Enzo Calzaghe is doing a tremendous job with Enzo Maccarinelli ( against Braithwaite in the final stretch comes to mind) and has an exceptional father-son relationship with Joe but I don't see much control there when Joe says about Jeff Lacy very early "He's ****" n Enzo doesn't slap him in order for him not to lose focus n underestimate his opponent - basically I can't talk much about Enzo, that's what... Billy Graham done an exceptional work keepin Ricky goin at Louie and you can see ( from Hatton's expression) what Billy does in there without actually hearing what he's sayin... Bowie Fisher, Ronnie Shields, Tommy Brooks, Manny Steward, Nacho Beristain, Fritz Snudeck are all very experienced and wise n no single result can turn it upside down like they're the worst trainers in the world now for this or that particular reason - my perception.

"I know he's ****" or something wasn't it. That kept Calzaghe in that psyched up state, perfect from Enzo.
