Hi Guys It is interesting to see who people think are the best managers in Australian boxing. Which ones are able to put the big deals together to move their boxers in the best path for exposure and more importantly gain world title shots. It will be interesting to see how many WOLRD CLASS managers we have in Australia. Maybe in this thread we should rank them 1-10. Its intersesting for a boxing fan sitting on the outside to see the dynamics of the guys behind the scene, how they work and how much leg work is needed to put together these big fights. The ego's involved would be incredible to get a big fight together (money, location, gloves , ring size etc etc) I get confused with promoters and managers because it seems there is a lot of changing places between fighters, trainers and managers. Hope we get some good feedback.
as far as getting fighters a shot at titles without taking them to the cleaners financially..........its no contest. noel thornberry is the best manager in australian boxing...
I won't rank anyone but the top names as managers IMO are Hyder, Stu Duncan, The Nassers, Garry Francisco (Grange) Promoters would be Grange, Murray Thompson, Angelo Dicarlo and Brian Kirwan (Ace Promos) and Jamie Myer once again in no particular order, Grange however get great Kudos from the visiting officials I have worked with on their shows - they have been blown away by the hospitality and professionalism shown to them
Great call Sallywinder - inexcusable of me to leave him out of the managers! Also would be right at the top of any trainers list; took Rick Thornberry to 2 world title fights and 2 aussie title wins with no amatuer experience, took Danny Buzza from barroom brawler to aussie champ and Glen Fitzpatrick right up there as well. When it comes to working a corner I would put him right up there with Nick Durandt
Great to see some respectable and knowledgeable people posting in here. Hello and welcome Phillip and family :good KMA Boxing Australia
I would rate Billy Hussein, Armatruda & co down in victoria..both as better promoters than Murray Thomson.
quite simple, green and mundines managers and promoters. have made more $'s than anyone in history and have got plenty of title shots.
Though I agree with SALLYWINDER that Green & Mundine provided their management with heaps of ability to work with. Work with it they did, and squeezed a truck load of $$$ out along the way. I am critical of the way Koder & Mundine have chosen opponents, and avoided harder match-ups. But if you check the bank balance they'd be doin' just fine.
Phil, Your everywhere aren't you? Whats happening brother? All quiet here, had a bad accident about a month ago so have been out of the gym for awhile but hope to get the boys cracking again next week. Diamond's father passed away so he was scratched off the Aug 5th card so I guess it is back to the drawing board for us and we will see what offers are coming up shortly. Take care mate.
Sorry to hear all your woes mate. I haven't posted on the other forum for quite some time; not much point in going into that one in detail. Things are pretty busy at this end - We have a two way race for putting on the super-middleweight title (both high profile) and are in negotiations regarding the light-middleweight title after the previous champ lost his promoter and had no-one to put him on! With that and the upcoming fights on Channel Ten I have plenty on my plate. Please pass my regards and condolences to Diamon
couldhavebeen. Plenty happening mate October 25 Horden Pavilon will see baoxing back on the free to air screens. I think this is about the 5th time that it has been mentioned the first time about 1 month ago. i will let others to spill the beans as i am keeping quiet until everything is signed sealed and delivered
