Folley wasn't that big a banger and Liston said, after Williams, Mike DeJohn was the hardest puncher he met.
Frazier didn't meet many punchers Foreman used him as a yo yo and Bonavena a lesser puncher floored him twice. Bowe faced Gonzalez a big puncher certainly a bigger puncher than Holyfield imo. Lewis faced other punchers whom I would say hit harder than Rahman or McCall they just didnt land on the right spot,eg
    Ruddock
    Morrison
    Butler
    Bruno
Wlad faced bigger punchers than Povetkin eg
    Haye
    Brewster

Walcott was a good puncher very sneaky and pin point but top level?Naah! Moore was a great Lhy puncher. At Heavy ?
    I don't think so.
Fact is Rocky never faced a top drawer banger, not his fault, just how it goes.

Haye never landed any punches that were harder than the shots that finished Price by Povetkin, Bruno never hit Lewis harder than McCall because he caught him flush and couldn`t stop him like Oliver did, you`re right about Gonzales but I wasn`t sure about mentioning him because he was so bad v Bowe.

I don't think your statement needs justifying. Ruiz had survived 36 rounds with Holy, 12 with Rahman and 12 with Golota and Haye shook him from the opening bell, albeit he was past his prime. Chisora as well has eaten bombs from Whyte whilst going toe to toe for 12 rounds and like you said, took Vitali the distance.

    Dempsey - Firpo
    Marciano - Walcott or Moore.
    Liston - Williams
Frazier - Could throw a curve ball in there and go for Ramos, but the sensible choice is Bonavena.
Bowe - Hide bizarrely. He was a sharp, vicious puncher, but let down by having the chin of a tennis player.
    Lewis - Tua.
Wlad - Peter or Brewster. Haye was more explosive and Povetkin has highlight reel knockouts aplenty, but I think they had the heavier hands.

No doubt Tua but I'm not sure Tua landed once against Lennox .. then again Morison, Ruddick and others too .. he fought huge punchers but really dominated .. the ones that hit him that he endured were Mercer, Briggs and Vitali ..

I know Sharkey was not a huge puncher but at his best he was blazing fast and could tee off and he did quite a bit against Jack D.

Does Brewster count? Thats like giving credit to McBride for defeating Tyson.

Wlad was no match for a prime , fit and healthy Brewster.

Williamson had a pop to his punch , but then again , Wlad didn't defeat him either. :naughty2:

And he lost that belt in a fight where he sustained life changing injuries. It was that career ending fight that gave Wlad the courage to rematch him , ok?

Instead of taking the immediate rematch after he lost first time , Wladdy boy decided to go the IBF route instead cos he saw that was a much easier road to a belt since a Byrd who was hanging onto his prime by a thread still held the title.

Vitali wasn`t punching with his old snap at that stage and was on the back foot, two of Haye`s punches during his sloppy assault were devastating but those punches weren`t any harder than the punch that knocked Price down plus even though Haye punched really hard here he can`t be added to the list of big finishers because his hand speed was lousy here, he was awful.

I 'll tell you the moment that made Marciano to me .. Rd 1 of the first Walcott fight .. Joe could seriously crack when he planted himself. He came out to flatten Rocky. He really felt going in that Mariano would be an easy fight. After Joe dropped Rocky w the hook he went balls to the wall, still very fresh and tried to take Rocky's head off. Rocky showed he was serious by surviving and firing back .. a lot of guys would not have made it but he flourished .. that to me was the moment he proved to be real.

Would it be fair to rank them (in order of hardest hitters beaten) as:

    Lewis
    Wlad

    Liston

    Frazier
    Bowe
    Marciano and Dempsey
