Unfortunately for this thread, boxing history isn't filled with too many 282-pound, heavy-handed southpaws who would outweigh a shot Wilder by 70 pounds.

Wilder entering the ring as the heavier guy against those old-timers would've been a terrifying thing.

They thought Jack Johnson was a bad-ass, and he was only six feet tall.

Fortunately for this thread, you probably don't need to exactly fit all those traits to beat Wilder.

Only two guys "destroyed" Wilder ... one outweighed him by 40 pounds and was 6'9" ... the other, in the final fight of Wilder's 16-year-career, was a power-punching southpaw who outweighed him by 70 pounds.

Nobody Wilder's size came close. Certainly no one lighter than him did.

That's what guys who "continue" to bash him fail to realize. Wilder never outweighed a fighter for the last 12 years of his career and he still left heavier guys twitching on the deck.

None of those guys at 39, after a 16-year-career, beat the 282-pound, southpaw Zhang, either.

Hell, none of them could even beat orthodox fighters 100 pounds lighter than Zhang at the ends of their careers.

Let Wilder fight some super middle who enters the ring in the 180s/low 190s on fight night, and see how he does next. That's basically who those others were fighting.

Worst post of the year that was 2024.

They didn't even demolish 200 pounders in their own eras.

Sully Montgomery was a has-been at age 25, getting wasted by 180 pounders.

    Truly terrible post.

Wilders record against ranked opponents currently stands at 3-4-1.

I see no reason to think that it would take a great fighter to beat him, or that the people he beat were good enough to suggest that he would be likely to be successful against great fighters.

Everyone Wilder fought in title fights and everyone he faced after he lost the title was ranked. So make it 11-4-1.

And this isn't a thread on who "edges" Wilder or who might get past him in his final fight after a long career.

    It's who "DESTROYS" Deontay Wilder.

And posting a bunch of old timers who didn't 'destroy' people in their own time, let alone when Wilder was at his best, is dumb.

I know people don't like Wilder, but people that post crap like that are idiots.

I didn't care for John Ruiz ... but Sully Montgomery isn't "destroying" John Ruiz, either.

Is this just an insult board, or are we actually talking boxing?

We saw who destroyed Wilder ... it was Fury and Zhang ... both of whom had huge weight advantages and were enormous guys compared to fighters from yesteryear.

There weren't a lot of Fury and Zhang's in boxing history. And Fury barely survived two of those Wilder fights himself, and said he thought Wilder gave him brain damage.

Ring Magazine only when comparing to old timers.
When you put it like that, your position sounds more reasonable.
They were both big guys for sure, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't have a bad day, against a smaller heavyweight who was a wrecking machine.

Champions have never defended anything based on Ring ratings. It's totally arbitrary and the ratings have no bearing on who fights anyone.

The Police Gazette held more sway than Ring did for old timers.

Duane Bobick has beaten as many Ring ranked heavyweights as Usyk. Means absolutely nothing.
