Who are the gatekeepers in... heavyweight division? light heavy weight? welter weight? junior welterweight? junior middleweight? lightweight?
There are always different levels of gatekeepers. And in this sport, where notable names hardly fight each other, a gatekeeper is defo someone who gets around and provides a great litmus test. Chris Arreola at HW? Gabriel Campillo has to be that guy at LHW. Paulie Magz at WW. Or perhaps Andre Berto as he held the key to the road to Mayweather. John Molina probably at 140. Maybe Adrien Broner. Lol. Or Hank Lundy. Austin Trout is becoming the gatekeeper at 154. These are all different levels. But some that come to mind.
HW: Mike Perez LHW: Nadjib Mohameddi WW: Paulie Malignaggi JWW: Emmanuel Taylor LW: Fidel Maldonado Jr.
Nah, Arreola is still a fringe contender. Campillo is definitely a gatekeeper now. Paulie definitely. Berto isn't a gatekeeper right now. He's a fringe contender too. Molina is probably a fringe contender at this point too as he'll likely get Broner if he beats Provodnikov. Lundy isn't a gatekeeper yet. Trout is becoming one, though, but he's still in the top 10 so he isn't.
No way on Arreola. He's gifted a shot at Wilder not the lineal belt. He's hardly Top 20 in the division. Same for Molina. Carry on.

I believe Mohammedi announced he's moving down to 168. He would be a champ if EE's didn't exist at 175
