Dont put Galaxy's foes on the level of Rahman or Ruiz. Galaxy beat better foes than that. What puts Holyfiled over Galaxy is his fights Qawi, Tyson, and said foes.

 

Galaxy's opponents really were truly awful.

Pical was a splinter champ that fought similarly awful opposition and even managed to lose to some.No good tools.

Yong-kang Kim was a small flyweight and was good at that weight.He was far too small against Galaxy; a fighter closer to a Bantam in size

Contreras was one of the best, but really just a limited banger.Still this was one of his only decent wins.

Rafael Orono may have been his best opponent and from what i have seen of him he was very good.When he fought Galaxy he was shot to pieces and looked terrible from the opening bell.He never won another fight.

Yuh and Chitalada are overrated as well by a lot of Westerners.Both their records are littered with notable gifts and they almost always struggled against anyone world class.

 

But putting Ruiz over these guys??

I rank Holyfiled higher, just think its going over board with the Ruiz comment.

 

Ruiz was better than all of them at the time they fought Galaxy.

 

Which says it all about his level of competition really.

 

Galaxy's opposition is underrated to some degree due to them not all constantly facing world class opposition themselves.

 

You could say the same thing about Yori Boy Campas' opposition. They are underrated because they didn't face world class opposition themselves

 

Plus it's not like Galaxy was the Hagler of the division, with only one belt to shoot for.

There were lots of other good champions at the time and pretty much none of his comp did anything of note in the division.

Orono and Pical the sole exceptions and the less said about Pical the better.

Duran would have been next. He didnt get very high because he lost too many fights during the 80s and beyond. I am not the kind that likes to wait until a man's career is over. He is my top fighter of the 70's.

 

Man I say **** these half ass chumps Whitaker and Floyd Mayweather. I'm going to take the gloves off and ask how many of you saw Galindez? These pany waist boxers dont do the sport any good. No one likes boring boxers uless they got the speed of a Camacho or Roy Jones jr. I had to put Roy first because of his four world titles and six, count 'em six p4p awards. Personally I believe he should have got 10 straight. Not only that but I also believe Dwight Braxton belongs on that list. People talk about peak Leonard of '81. Why can't I talk about peak Braxton of '81 and '82? Saad Muhammud too. He certainly belongs higher than Ray leonard so I have to give him the boot to make room for Dwight. I'm a man. I admit it, I made a mistake.

 

Well strange that you mention Galindez, and at 7 to boot! Since 1978 he had just two years in boxing and 10 fights, of which he lost 3. No big wins either.
