I think another point is fighters are often labelled chinny if they are knocked out early on or out of the blue. Lewis was knocked out early against McCall and out of the blue by Rahman. True Rahman was landing shots but Lewis wasn't getting beat up or badly hurt so it was basically a one shot knockout.
Not disagreeing with you, but so was Manny who in fact was winning the fight, prior to the KO, but I can't see how anyone can label him chinny.
He was also KTFO early on in his career, if this had happened while he was champion and in the spotlight I bet he would have been labelled chinny.
But it's the way Wass is coming across. Lewis got KO'ed in like 45 odd fights. Hardly "chinny". Forget that you won 43-60 fights, you got stopped twice. You're chinny. - Wass.
Well if manny was chinny doesn't that mean probably more than 3/4 the fighters out there are chinny? I mean, like him or not, he's a world class fighter who fought a lot of good good fighters.
OK The best chinny fighter is probably the one with the best chin, in this context. We distort the question, when we start admitting fighters with good chins.
I have a hard time calling the fighter of the decade a chinny fighter. I think the whole idea is a bit blasphemous. But that said, it's hard not to suggest that they're probably roughly in the same category if we're just talking chins. But in the bigger picture, once you start calling fighters of the decade "chinny" and ATG heavyweights "chinny", then you're starting to move into an very uncomfortable direction.
Probably. The whole other avenue one can go down if one chooses to is, I've heard the argument that a guy who went down and got up several times in his career had a better chin than the guy who was KO'd with one punch, because the guy who was KO'd with one punch had a better defense, so where does it stop? Personally I'm very reluctant to call any world class fighter chinny, and in fact I simply don't. I think it's hugely disrespectful.
Wlad was only stopped twice. Amir Khan was only stopped twice as well. So I guess they had iron chins as well right?
