He couldn`t finish Camacho because he ran for the rest of that round, if he caught him againhe would have finished him.

You are mixing up power with greatness Rich i think.

Duran finished Buchanan with a shot to the balls. Ken actually took his power extremely well before that.

Larry Holmes and Muhammad Ali had longer reigns than George Foreman and Sonny Liston. They didn't hit harder.

Getting pummeled by Julio Cesar Chavez in no way diminishes Rosario's power.

Duran might be the greatest lightweight ever and he fought over 15 round title shot distances so he's going to stop a lot of guys. Larry Holmes stopped a lot of guys in his prime defenses not because he hit hard but because he was a class fighter and a level above those he beat.

I see the obligatory thread Buchanan vs Bramble but again that has absolutely nothing to do with who hit harder between Rosario and Duran. Everyone knows Buchanan is a better fighter than Bramble and it goes without saying. He was also "better" than Rosario. Whatever makes one happy tho.

A fantasy match Duran vs Rosario would be a boring thread because we all know Duran would pump Rosario tho Rosario could potentially sit him down for a quick count if he was lucky enough to catch him clean.

No-one stopped Camacho in almost 90 fights including bouts against brutal punchers when way past it. I highly doubt Duran would stop Macho over 12 but if he did it wouldn't be because he hit harder.

There's been harder hitters than Duran at 135. In saying this Duran hit DAMN hard at the weight and is in the conversation when talking punchers at the weight. He had genuine power there for sure.

Their only common opponent i think was Viruet and i'm pretty sure Edwin said Rosario hit harder.

    Chavez said this -

    BEST PUNCHER

Rosario: Anywhere he hit me it hurt. Frankie Randall was also a hard puncher. [Against Rosario] it was my youth, it was the fact I was in my prime, it all helped me get through that fight.

Arguello is in the conversation of big bangers at 135. Ganigan is short on resume but huge on one punch power, the two Gato's, Williams. Even Armstrong might be in an extended mix. I did a thread on Tony Baltazar Jr sometime back and tho limited he had an enormous left hook.

To be honest 135 might be a smidge short on genuine one punch punchers vs a couple of others.

Respect your differing view rich and have expanded above to show mine mate.

I think JT made passing reference to him but Ike Williams was the first name that came to mind when I think of big punching lightweights. His KO percentage doesn't look that impressive but he could bang.

Chavez at 35 was a helluva good puncher. There right hand lead was no joke. As well as his hook to the body. JCC made tough guys quit on their stools.

Saddler knocked out future lightweight champion Joe Brown. I think Sandy fought some over the weight fights at lightweight essentially.

I imagine Langford's power would have been something for the short time he was there. I saw Canzoneri and Petrolle mentioned. McLarnin might have been a bigger hitter than both. Ray Robinson started his career at 135 and had a decent amount of fights there. There is little doubt he was a huge banger for the class. George Chaney seemed to carry his power up.

Although not in contention for the hardest puncher at 135, Michael Katsidis was a rock solid hitter.

Langford didn't really fight at lightweight. People conflate fighting Joe Gans, with fighting at LW; he beat Gans in an over the limit fight. Not trying to degrade anything Langford did, just saying that people tend to mix these things up.

And it seems pretty clear following his career that as he matured and developed, he grew into his power at the higher weights, so to speak. He's probably be accused of PEDs by every single boxing fan in the world if that happened today
