Tho he lost the damage he inflicted on Ramirez was very telling as to just how HARD he hit HG.

He was never much chop after Chavez and was from many accounts drugs came into play at some stage. Despite being a shell of what he once was he whooped the promising Kronk prospect Anthony Jones with power and dropped Loreto Garza virtually every time he landed clean despite being virtually shot by that stage.

How good was the Chavez chin?!?!?!?! For me Rosario was Chavez's peak performance. He later said Rosario was the hardest puncher he ever faced and hurt him anywhere he hit him. He nominated his own youth and peak as helping him get thru that fight.

So on paper Chavez looked virtually completely untroubled in schooling Rosario yet tells us his youth and the fact that he was in his prime helped get him thru that fight. It's fascinating in that us viewers would never have picked up on it. It looked like a routine victory in a fight we thought would be much much tougher.

I meant to add him to my Rosario power plug even if he was near the end of his career.

12 defences in 7 years? Even I can work out that’s less than 2 defences a year. If he was in his prime at that time why wasn’t he more active than that?

He had 36 fights in that time period, a bit more than 5 fights a year. He was kept busy between title fights to keep his weight down.

For reference Leonard had 40 career fights and Michael Spinks 32.

A consistent 2 defenses per year is fair among all that other activity i think.

    Probably Barbados Joe Walcott.

He was very weight drained at lightweight, but he did make that weight a couple of times.

Best list I've seen on this thread so far, I'm surprised your the only who mentioned Shane Mosley. Didn't he have 31 stoppages out of 35 wins at Lightweight ?

Also Andy Ganigan Is a good shout, very hard puncher destroyed Sean O'Grady. And had Arguello down and wobbled numerous times.

I find Ramirez to be more of a solid puncher vs a devastating one Mike. Probably two rungs below the top level. I mean did he hit harder than guys like Mancini? I know he dropped Arguello but these things can happen.

No prob buddy, you make a salient point, mind you not sure there are many " solid " punchers that can achieve 82 KOs in 100 or so fights. stay safe.
