David Haye will soon launch a assault to become undisputed heavyweight champion? many people predit he will come a cropper and get knocked out? Thing is the heavyweight division has been seen as poor lacking divsion since the retirement of Lennox Lewis? So who exactly is there out there to stop the ambtious big punching undisputed cruiserweight champion? or is there no-one who can stop this man becoming a succsor of Lennox Lewis? How will David Hayes heavyweight career go? as he enters what he says will be the final three years of his career against the big boys.

If Haye gets sloppy or doesn't condition himself well enough, he could get KOed by any number of big punchers. I do think that, if he stays focused, he's skillful enough to avoid getting KOed by most of those guys because they're slow, but it could happen.

Boring fights where neither guy is aggressive because they're both chinny and powerful, but who could KO Haye if they catch him:
Wladimir Klitschko (One of maybe three guys I'd favor against Haye right now)
Hasim Rahman (Although he's probably slow enough that Haye would find other ways to be aggressive)

Slow guys Haye could outbox, but have power to KO him if he gets sloppy or fatigued:
    Shannon Briggs
    Sam Peter
    Oleg Maskaev
    David Tua
    Kali Meehan
    Vladimir Virchis

Other guys who might give Haye trouble stylistically:
Nicolai Valuev (I'd favor him against Haye as well - just such a huge departure from what he's used to)
    Alexander Povetkin
    Odlanier Solis
John Ruiz (almost even-money vs Haye. I don't believe Haye knows how to deal with this style)

Everyone else I'd give almost no shot at beating Haye, other than some journeymen in the second category I didn't bother to mention (i.e. Demetrice King, etc.). Didn't include Vitali here because I honestly still think he'll never fight again. If he wins mayor of Kiev, he'll have some "injury". If he doesn't, then he'll actually get injured.

I have to say if Vitali does fight again and he has still got it all I would give Haye is a punchers chance if its a war I think he would MURDER David Haye. He is one hard headed ****er did you see him push Lewis to the wire and if he lands flash on Haye he will be sleeping because this guys a even harder puncher than Haye.

The only one with a real good chance to KO Haye is Wlad Klitschko. If Vitali makes a sucessfull comeback, then he too. Maybe Povetkin and Virchis, but that's a big maybe.

Others don't have a chance to KO Haye, but could beat him on the scorecards, fighters like Chagaev and Gomez.

I honestly thought he wasn't far from being stopped against Fragomeni. His only hope is if he is significantly stronger with the added weight, which he may well be. His power looked awesome agaisnt Bonin, but obviously Bonin wasn't much of a test.

No matter how y'all hype him up, David Haye remains largely untested, and so does his chin, to his credit he's extremely fast, good footwork and possesses an arsenal of punches, but only time will tell if he is able to contend with the HWs, especially Wladimir Klitschko. Undefeated fighters are very confident, but he's got to prove himself by fighting a couple of B class HWs first. So far he's fought Polish Tomasz Bonin who, with all due respest to my compatriot, is a couple of classes below the likes of Klitschko. Personally I believe that Wlad would have KO'd him within 6 rounds.
However, what I do agree on with Haye is trhe quality of fighters Klitschko is fighting. WTH is Tony Thompson? never heard of the guy. Althouhg I am aware of the politics involved in boxing and great difficulties promoters create, there is definitely someone who can pose a bigger challenge than Thompson. I predict another easy win for Wlad, just like against Austin. I am sure at least Povetkin deserves to fight him, or a rematch with Sam Peter, or an encounter with Valuev. That's what people want to see.

let haye bed himself into the division before hyping him to the nines or slgging him off .

off course he has himself to blame if he comes a cropper first time out and loses with all the mouth he has been giving to try and get himself noticed.

what he has been doing might put pressure on him to shine when he gets in the ring instead of boxing patiently and waiting for openings he might take chances, looking to impress and get ktfo while doing so.

this exact thing happed with hernandez v braithewaite just a month or 2 ago.

clearly posing and being flash instead of settling down to work hernandez ending up being ko`d and looking silly in a fight where he was so much the better fighter in terms of talent.

haye should learn lessons from this.

When will people get this right?! His corner threw in the towel because he had exhausted himself from absolutley battering Thompson - he just hadn't reckoned with Carl being so tough.

I suggest you watch from 8:15 on. Haye was popped and dropped by a straight right from Thompson and never recovered. His corner threw in the towel because their man was hurt badly and was about to get hurt even worse. Haye's legs were gone after the knockdown. Before 8:15 Haye still looked good right before Thompson knocked him down he was putting some serious hurt on Thompson. Bottom line is Haye was knocked down by a straight right punch, not from exhaustion, and he never recovered. Proof is in the video.

Haye will get blasted out by most fighters with a good chin and a hard punch, I would favor at least 7 or 8 Heavyweights over Haye at this time for various reasons. Haye might be able to punch like a Heavyweight, but if history shows anything, he probably cant take a Heavyweight punch. I see being the next Razor Ruddock.
