Y'know, the Futches/Roaches etc outside of North America? I know Vitali's old coach (also Abraham's, too, I believe) who passed away a few years ago was legendary in Germany. Any others?
Loma`s dad is a master trainer, he trains Usyk also and constantly studies Loma`s opponents all the time.
Agree wholeheartedly with Sdunek. What a record that guy had in title fights. Like mentioned above, Nacho. I always liked George Francis for getting his guys in top physical shape anyway. Too bad Australia/NZ did not have better than Lewis or Barry. They had some real good talent--I think anyway---needing some more refinement.
While I agree he was good, I would not call him among the best ever. It seems like father son combinations work in the UK, Europe and the eastern euro nations.
Amilcar Brusa engineered the development of Carlos Monzon. He also guided Carlos Baldomir during Baldomir's unlikely mid-career surge, master-minding the greatest upset of the 2000s when Baldomir outfought and outsmarted Zab Judah. Among his other notable proteges were 'Happy' Lora and Antonio Esparrangoza He also trained champions Rafael Pineda, Tomas Molinares, Jorge Rodrigo Barrios, and 'Famoso' Hernandez.
Australia did have better than Lewis and Barry. Ambrose Palmer who was a top boxer on a domestic level himself (lost a controversial fight to Lesenevich, overmatched with Young Stribling but beat the formidable Ron Richards multiple times) was a top trainer. He took Johnny Famechon with zero amateur fights and molded him into a World Champion using his famed "method" focussing on an airtight defense, pinpoint jab and superb footwork. He also provided the fundamentals for a young Rocky Mattiolli who chose a different style to take him to a world title but never forgot Ambrose's input in his early career.
