maybe more over-looked than disrespected {because of calzaghes dominance at the weight in recent times}...maybe he deserves more recognition...

    Lucian Bute.

Calzaghe. Even though he's got his fair share of idiot fans there's far more people that just blindly criticise him, especially on here.

Darchinyan is an excellent choice. Also Sturm, Chagaev, Verno Phillips, Dzinziruk, Malignaggi, Kotelnik, but some of them are just simply underrated.

I don't know about undeserving, I don't think one of these guys is undeserving by any means, but....Chris John and Zsolt Erdei.

Of course I'd love to see more of Chris John. I can't see why he doesn't come to the USA and fight, he seems very capable.

Erdei I haven't seen much of, but the consensous seems to be that he's crud.

Wlad is ok - but to say his fight with tony thompson was exciting is just wrong!

Wladimir Klitschko. Consensus opinion is that the heavyweight division is weak and that Klitschko is just the best of a mediocre lot. I don't necessarily agree with that take but for some reason the boxing media seems to preface every single fight Klitschko has with a negative assessment of the heavyweight division. Some of Klitschko's fan base contributes to his status problems but his detractors and haters are just as outspoken.

I also think that Chad Dawson garners a lot of criticism that is puzzling. He has gone after virtually all the marquee names and has demonstrated phenomenal talent. His fights are exciting as hell but it seems never enough for some fans.

Joe Calzaghe also gets too much criticism. He's a great boxer and I think the US media at times overplayed the nationalism card to build up the Hopkins fight because of his reluctance to venture into hostile territories for most of career. This got him a lot of ridiculously over the top criticism. As far as his fans, there's zero middle ground with them. You can get castigated for not complementing him adequately.
