Who are the most successful fighters in history with the least natural or "God-given" talent?

    Natural boxing talents:

    - Speed
    - Power
    - Athleticism
    - Chin
    - Cuts

    Posters have said:

    - Hopkins
    - Marquez
    - Valuev
    - Paulie
    - Winky
    - Rosi (no idea who he is)

Bhop comes to mind with the first three categories but he has a good chin and never gets cut .

I always thought Hopkins got amazingly far who didn't have one standout great characteristic such as speed power or athleticism. Obviously he was decent in all areas but far from gifted, his chin was obviously good though and had elite IQ, toughness and footwork. But he is probably one of the greatest fighters without standout typical attributes such as speed, power or athleticism. His dedication probably helped him to over-achieve imo.

Someone without ANY of those things? I'm guessing someone who got to regional level and managed to win a local belt. I don't think there's been any national or world level boxers with absolutely none of those things.

    Got in before me.

Maybe JMM? Although he has decent pop, his best characteristic is probably his ring IQ which isn't a God given talent as such.

Would Andre Ward fit the bill? He has decent speed, not great power or athleticism as such, chin isn't certified iron but he rarely needs it. He dominates practically all of his opponents.

No... Someone at world level with the LEAST natural talent, encompassing a combination of any of those things.

Essentially, what I'm asking is who are the biggest over-achievers in history?

Guys , guys , guys , come on really???

Bernard had great speed and athleticism.

He had quicker hands than Calzaghe , just not the work rate. Was way quicker than Pavlik, and when it comes to athleticism he kept up with a prime Roy!!!

Gents you really need to understand what you are watching before making these comments , its embarrassing.

Ah right okay I get you.

Malignaggi comes to mind, he isn't exceptionally fast, no power, swells up a lot, became a 2 time world champ...done pretty well for himself I'd say.
