It's relative though, he had decent but not God-given speed like the likes of recent other ATG's Jones Jr, Mayweather, Pacquaio etc. You say he kept up with Jones Jr, the wide result says otherwise, but he went on to have an arguably greater career than Jones and it wasn't due to his speed, athleticism etc. (I admit athleticism is a tough one to define)

Considering how Hopkins lost his pro debut, had little amateur experience, and has gone on to defy the odds again and again, I'd say you would be hard-pressed to find a more clear overachiever on face value.

Valuev size neutralized most the disadvantages

My pick is Hopkins, possibly the least nature gifted ATG

    Gents ,

He lost to a prime Roy by about 4 rounds , it wasnt some onesided ass kicking.

Dont do the Boxrec , watch the fight please. Its wasnt the snail against the hare at any stage, and this is Roy we are talking about.

Didnt break any of his ankles either.

The question was on athleticism and I said he was able to keep up with a prime Roy for 12 rounds which he did. Although Roy was faster it wasnt a shut out on speed.

    peace.

Joe Louis... his ring IQ compensated for not being so great with some of those traits.

Manny Pacquiao... his talents compensated for his not being so great with ring IQ.
