Saw the video and I've seen a lot of Benn, I know he's a tough customer but a close fight with Jones?, I don't think so.

I don't think so either. But although I would guess that Jones would win a lot of rounds, Benn might score a couple on pure aggression with the right judges and Jones wouldn't have a fun night, even KO6, which isn't impossible, would see Jones fighting at an uncomfortable pace.

There is absolutley no argument for rating him above Lennox, Jimmy Wilde, Bob Fitzsimmons or Ted Kid Lewis.

The point, to me is, nobody would enjoy fighting Benn. Even tough *******s like Tiger would have their hands full for the duration.

Simple, I've never seen Kid Lewis

I'm also not a big Lennox fan..although I give him his props.

Benn was a hell of a lot funner to watch than Lennox...and seemed like more of a ******* than he did.

I'm a sucker for evil types I guess

the benn who fought mclellan would not have been simply brushed aside by jones , no way. he would have given him a tough fight , much more so than anyone else did at that time, including james toney and hopkins.

Benn would have his moments but if we're arguing in a prime for prime sense, I think Jones would handle him. I think Nigel's best hope would be in an early round bombing of Jones, I don't see him taking the fight over in the latter rounds to win a decision over Jones.

Yeah we were talking about him earlier in the thread.

Have you seen his fight with Kulumbay by chance? Know what happened it that one?

Though I wouldnt regard him with those names, as Sweet Pea said he was a great technician and he had a great jab.

Comparing Benn to Duran might be the DUMBEST ****in comparison is history! You should be pistol whipped for comparing ****in Nigel Benn to a top 10 all time fighter.

Jones would have absoloutely destroyed Benn. Its not even up for question. Unlike G-man, Roy would not presented a target for Benn to hit, and Nigel would be getting lit up by Roy's speed and power.

See Roy's fight with Bryant Brannon for a preview of how Benn would have ended up.

Not to compare Benn with Brannon but I have to admitt that its the very fight that always pops in my mind when I think of a matchup between the two...I know that people love to call into question Jones' chin, but until the Tarver fight everyone thought Jones had a great chin...The second knockout loss to Johnson was mostly hangover from the first and a real lack of confidence...One thing that no one could argue about Jones at 160 and 168...His power was un ****ing real, and Benn would have had to walk though that to get to the so-called glass jaw...Not likely Jones wins by KO under 7.

I have the Kalambay fight.unfortunately it's a silent copy, though i doubt it was broadcast outside of Italy or Denmark anyway.

Boxrec info is wrong on the fight.Kalule was the one that went down twice, once in the fifth, stumbling forward onto the ground after getting hurt trading and once about the tenth or eleventh from a clean counter right hand.

Kalambay only took a count at the very end of the last round when he appeared to slip after an exchange. He was never hurt.

It's a great fight, especially technically.Kalule looked much better at 160 than his badly weightdrained showings against Davey Moore and McCallum, but was basicallly past his prime with only a few fights left in him.

kalambay was overly respectful and mostly just opted to box on the move, despite hurting Kalule multiple times.Nobody is going to dominate a technician like Kalule by sticking to a pure-boxing offensive style, but overall i thought he outjabbed and countered him, winning by about five points; including two ten eight rounds-or more if you don't give Kalule a ten-eight in the 12th.

Eusebio Pedroza also. Kinda' like a FW Hopkins in a way, a sneaky, crafty veteran which good boxing skills and a very long reign as champ. Would've given Sal Sanchez a very hard fight, lost to a spirited McGuigan on away turf, after a 7-year reign, I believe. Never listed in top 5 FW lists.
