Sumbu is close to reaching levels of being appreciated like he should. That's been a trend for years now, which is great to see.

Fenech as well, though to a slightly lesser degree. He's universally known as one of the original multi-weight terrors before it became the premiere route of boxing and its fans. His first loss is widely acknowledged as a very poor decision that cost him accomplishing even greater glories. Weight cutting is widely known to of caught of to him and more or less ended his prime.

Meldrick Taylor, very skilled, ridiculously fast, olympic gold medalist at 17 years old, heart of a lion. Its a tragedy what happened to him though, sad that he also went far too long with his career after being brain damaged. Didnt have the most power which was unfortunate

Don't know if you can rightly say he's no longer a known and respected entity, honestly. He definitely ended up getting a lot of exposure late in his career.

Jeff Fenech also had fragile hands and had numerous hand operations.
What Fenech could have accomplished without hand problems we would
not be mentioning him in this thread .

Floyd and Wlad are probably the ones I've soon get most frequently underrated here. Could throw Ward in there as well. But this is usually the case when it comes to newly retired fighters. You need some time to get a proper perspective. All these guys had a bit of a safety first approach as well, which usually isn't very endearing to fans.

Quite a few lower weight fighters amongst your average fans.

Sahaprom. A better fighter than either Austin or Marquez for me, though he didn't definitively prove it. They were both ridiculously overhyped in comparison.

    Konadu
    Chang
    Yuh
    Moon
    Hodkinson
    Lindell Holmes
    Mario Martinez
    Ledwaba
    Bungu
    Nazarov
    Ncita
    Sasakul
    Chuvatana
    Jibaro Perez
    Greg Richardson
    Said Skouma

I still think Estrada is underrated at the minute, really good little fighter. I'm looking forward to the Sor Rungvisai fight a lot. A few of Chocolatito's victims have been underappreciated, the likes of Yaegashi etc.

The Estrada/Sor Rungvisai fight is perfect, telling match, and it's going to, in my opinion, answer almost all of the remaining questions down around super fly and do so rather definitively. Certainly one of those once every ten years or so sort of bout, I love it when Darwinism more or less takes over in boxing and it's simply survival of the fittest out there in the rankings, even if you're an accomplished great with 40 something wins to your name and you haven't even turned 30 yet. It's like a fish tank full of sharks down there, quality wise. Talk about packed.

I also think very highly of Estrada, as a side note. Such a well rounded fighter, so tidy in everything he does, and such a well paced, and well conditioned 12 round fighter. The way he rallied and really put his stamp on approval on exactly how many rounds he needed against a highly intelligent boxer like Cudruas really blew me away. Wise beyond his years in the ring, Estrada.

Just want to go out of my way and say how happy I am to see Moon receive a shout out in a thread like this, without me being the one to bring him up... :campeon2:

If underrated is synonymous with forgotten, Kennedy McKinney tends to fly under the radar.
