When Hopkins and Toney are referred to as slick old time fighters with all the tricks and techniques up there sleeves, who are they being compared to?
    is it Archie Moore, Walcott?
Were any of these old time fighters more skilled than Toney or Bhop?
    :think

They're being compared to each other. Both of them are older than dirt.

I heard Hopkins mention that he picked things up from watching Archie Moore in a interview years ago.

    Man there are loads.

    Willie Pep
    Gene Tunney
    Charles Burley

All seem to be known for an insane level of technical proficiency, and that is just three that came to my mind.

Joe Walcott delivers them right hands like a pro. It kind of reminds me of how Charley Burley landed his. You can see the same school of style by watching their clips.

 There is just too many to name when you think about all the slick, technically brilliant fighters of ages past. I mean you want a slick fighter, technically brilliant but offense orientated....Jose Napoles is your man for instance. Your just opening up a can of worms when you try and name old school slick boxers.

"Floyd Mayweather Jr. Jim I gotta' tell you I'm terribly impressed. I don't think I've seen an exhibition of boxing like this since Willie Pep. This kid is unbelievable, great legs, great speed, unbelievable ring generalship. I mean he's got tremendous presence in that ring, Floyd Mayweather knows where he is every minute of this fight." - Harold Lederman during the Mayweather-Corrales fight.

    Great call on Jersey Joe.

:good Great stuff i had never seen this before.. One of the best boxing clips ive seen in some time. Legendary trainer Eddie Futch use to say Burley was the greatest fighter he had ever seen (even better than Robinson). Use to say Burley was as slick as Lard:lol:

Another super slick fighter was Niccolone Locche.
