Most black people with British or European surnames had that name given to one of their ancestors by their "master" when they were slaves in America and the Caribbean.

Which is why it is so good to hear so many African names in the UK now and I love to hear about black people changing their names back to an African name or, like Ali, Arabic and Muslim influenced.

Professional boxing

This is surely a toss- up between Sweden and Denmark
Sweden has three noticeable fighters, Ingemar Johansson, Armand Kranjc and George Scott.
Denmark has quite a few noticeable fighters like Mikkel Kessler,Battling "The durable dane" Nelson, Mads Larsen, Rudy Markussen, Brian Nielsen, Thomas Damgaard and Soren Sondergaard(underrated).

Sweden has Ingemar Johansson and Denmark has Mikkel Kessler as their ace in the hole. I would say overall, Denmark rates slightly better than Sweden.

Amatuer boxing

This is interesting, I would say Finland is #1 and Sweden is #2 with Norway/Denmark tied at #3 and #4.


I would like to give you a deep analysis of why I rate them this way, but looking at the amatuer programmes today, we can see the European Championship, the AIBA championship and the Olympic games where Finland and Sweden are the leading forces of Scandinavia.

Sweden and Finland are very close though.

 

Oh right. I thought it might have been something less sinister than that, like his great great great grandmother came from Wales or something. Never know, could be, although slavery might be the more obvious answer.

 

That guy's a decent researcher and presenter and the BBC rarely get their documentary's wrong.
