He fought in "a far superior era" if you don't know what you're talking about.

That wasn't sparring footage, it was fooling around footage.

I agree that he was very elusive, but the reports are pretty consistent about him "climbing all over" his opponents, many of whom said fighting him was like fighting a "hornet's nest." I think he was the ultimate swarmer with Zivic tendencies, though he could stand off and box when he had to.

Yes. The reports are funny. Some say he could bang, others say he was a "light hitter." He was not a pure swarmer, though, he would at times box at range and be elusive behind a good right jab. When he faced LaMotta, interestingly enough, he did not swarm him. He stayed away perhapys because he had to concede to LaMotta's superior strength.

Zivic's fouling was more intentional than Greb's; a part of his repertoire. Tommy Loughran and Mike Gibbons both went on record as saying that they felt Greb's fouling was more a result of his "furious" style than anything else. I definitely don't feel that it was as calculated as Zivic's was. But what do I know?:smoke

Pawel Wolak -you can tell he watches alot of Frazier tapes. He had a nice little war last month with Delvin Rodriguez.

Paxton attributes the fouling to an understandable need to level the field after his vision was compromised. His stance probably had to change too (as did Gypsy Joe Harris, et al) and I bet he climbed all over guys even more because he had to, despite the wear and tear after all those bouts.

However, there is an awful lot about how dirty he was in there. I don't know how much of it was due to his handicap and thus necessary to survive, how much of it was due to his furious style and thus almost accidental, and how much of it was due to his ruthlessness as a fighter.
