    Who is Genaro Hernandez?

He was lineal champ at the time at 130. Had only 1 loss and it was at 135 to Oscar De La Hoya. Had wins over Carlos Gerena, Carlos Hernandez, Azumah Nelson, Jorge Paez, etc

Having only 2 championship fights and then being ranked the 8th best boxer of all of boxing means the 2 boxers you do beat have to be P4p themselves no?

Are you just arguing cos you love floyd, or do you actually think his ranking at that time was correct?

SHould he be above Hamed for example who had around 12 championship fights!

It's not about the 2 title defenses. It's about who he beat. He beat the lineal champion in his 18th fight and second year as a professional. Then he defended his title in a 2 round KO over Mandfredy who was coming off a hot streak and was high touted at the time.

Tell me what Hamed had done at that time?

Mccullogh, Vasques, Kelly (who was p4p ranked) the main 3.

but also 17 championship fights in 2 differant weights.

I'm out champ. If you think he'd done enough then each to there own.

You realize canelo and broner are ranked right now with only 1 good win each (trout, demarco) and both are worse wins than Genaro?

Floyd's 2 wins are as good or if not better than those 3 given they way Floyd performed and how young he was.

What the **** is he on about? Jesus Chavez is better than DeMarco, much less Genaro compared to him. Manfredy was actually one of the top contenders at the time. Rees???

And Floyd was just exceptionally better than Broner. ****, he still is. Making the list for ability was actually warranted in his case, which it didn't need to be.

No idea :conf. Last year when he made threads, I thought it was quite clear and obvious that he was a troll and didn't really mean any of the things he said. But now I think he may actually believe this crap which isn't any better

As a Bernard Hopkins fan, the one thing that really upsets me is that these P4P lists really distort his prime.

The fact that B-Hop was not on the 1997 list, his best year, is a travesty. Yet, B-Hop was ranked 5th in 2006 and 2007, and despite a loss to Calzaghe, moved up to 4th in 2008.

What makes me upset is that the future generations who get information from these sources will assume that B-Hop's prime was from about 1999-2008, when that clearly was not the case.

Thank goodness for people like me, who can tell the story as it is, and pass it on. Although the books may not reflect it, B-Hop's true prime was from 1995-2004.

(I can go on and on about B-Hop, but I will stop here for now.)

Damn that is a VERY impressive resume. I didn't know Duran, Hagler, and Hearns were P4P when Leonard fought them.

Hahahah, you are clueless bro. You're personal dislike clouds your mind and makes you seem to have no credibility all the time.

Broner won a vacant belt at 130 against Vicente Rodriguez, a guy clearly not ranked in the top 10 of the division. His legit title was the win against Antonio DeMarco.

Antonio DeMarco is nowhere close to the fighter that Genaro Hernandez was. A win over DeMarco then is not nearly as impressive as one over Genaro. Despite Genaro never fighting again, he was a long reigning lineal champion at the weight who had never lost at 130.

Floyd's win over Genaro was one of the 20 best wins would could have picked up in boxing at the time. Period.

Plus, Angel Manfredy was hot off giving Gatti his first loss. He was ranked in the top 4 at 130 pounds, and that division was deep at the time and for the next couple years.

In addition to winning 5 other fights in that calendar year, as well as the entirety of the 21 fights of his career in the previous 30 months or so.

Shouting at Floyd for being undeserving of entering the ass end of the top 10 P4P when he CLEARLY HAD ONE OF THE TWO BEST 1998's IN ALL OF BOXING!

Agenda driven thread. Agenda driven mindset. Agenda driven trash opinion you've got there. It's disgusting. The people who hate Mayweather can't stop bringing him up. I'm tired of hearing about him. Let's talk some Brian Viloria, Srisaket Rungvisai, and Nkosinathi Joyi.... OH YEAH! That's right... 90% of the boxing fans on this site actually aren't. **** it's annoying.

One of the rankings that stands out to me:

    Mike Tyson
    1986
    #2

He was 28-0 and had just beat Trevor Berbick for his first title. Trevor F'ing Berbick was his best win and holy **** please feel free to list his top 5 victories to that point.

And it's not like they had him at #9. #2?!?!?!

    You don't know ****, boy.

Genaro Hernandez is a fringe HOF'er.

If a fighter nowadays beat an undefeated legit lineal champ and then a top 5 contender in their first defense, along with being undefeated themselves, they would completely enter the consensus top 10 P4P.

Rigondeaux is ranked in everybody's top 10 P4P other than Ring Magazine.

Quit playing dumb... If you are simply "playing" dumb.

You don't have to beat a top 10 P4P fighter to enter the top 10 P4P. Otherwise there would be vacancies in the top 10 when a fighter lost to one who still didn't quite deserve it.

Besides, P4P is up to the beholder. To some it factors in skillsets and their view and opinion of their overall talent.

There is no definition of a P4P list so quit acting like there is one and that it is what you feel it should be.
