everyone was ducking a 6'1 WW named Paul Williams! Paul could make 147 easy but couldnt get any fights. He was high risk/low reward.

I think its funny how everyone says Floyd would have beat fighter _____. Yet Floyd would go fight Gatti or Baldomir instead. Floyd doesnt get a pass! When Cotto, Margo, P.Will, and later Pacman where looking unstoppable... Floyd retires.

Now that Cotto looked shattered against Margo/Pac they fight. I bet Floyd will be looking to make the Pac fight now that he hasnt been explosive in his last three.

Floyd is a Cherry picker! This is whats wrong with this sport. He should fight all comers. all contenders.

    Floyd has a formula.

Ortiz was made a fool by Maidana. After he had a big win. Floyd fights this nobody.

Mosley was on the decline and almost lost to Mayorga. had a big win against a brickless Margo and Floyd signs.

Cotto was destroyed by Margo/Pac. he picks up a paper belt at 154 against Yuri, revenges against a brickless Margo, and Floyd takes the fight.

Hatton was undefeated. Then gets a gift decision against Collazo and beats a washed up Castillo.... and Floyd makes the fight.

He is Smart. Low risk High reward fights!

Only one who has a case is margarito(e). Floyd didn't fight him for business reasons and ended up going onto fight Oscar, who still had something left.

I rather beat a HOF lock like Oscar over a disgraced fraud any day.

I never understand how people can think that retirement is a form of ducking. Try and be logical. His last 2 fights before retirement Mayweather made more money then he ever dreamed of. He had all the money in the world and was undefeated, WHY NOT RETIRE??? Anyway he did what any sane person would do and retired. Why did he come back???? Well when you're an idiot who doesn't know how to handle money, then no matter how much you have it will never be enough, cuz you spend it all. So he needs more money the only way he could get more money is to fight, so he came back. He is fighting only for paychecks cuz he knows with his spending habits he needs to get as much money as possible so that when he retires for good he won't be able to spend it all and windup on government aid at the end of his life. Let's hope it works cuz I would hate to see one of the greats of my day end up penniless. In conclusion his retirement was not a duck, but sincere. And he came back cuz he was spending too much money without any more coming in.

Dont be a dummy, you can make anyones resume look like **** by doing this. I can go through Pacs resume and trash ODLH, Hatton, Clottey, Cotto etc but its stupid, there's always positive and negatives attached to most fights and fighters

So I guess what you are saying he never fought anybody who would be an underdog against at WW? SO who are these fighters that he would not be favoured against over the last 5-6 years at WW? there must be a huge long list of guys that would have kicked his ass?

These guys are not in the Boxing Business because they love getting punched in the face, they do it for a living. SO yes I guess he could have fought every fighter, fighting 4 times a year and still not make as much money as he did in the Oscar fight . . . or he could fight Oscar and Hatton and retire like he said after Baldy and let his body heal!

I really do not get this whole critique really, the only fighters that was any real comp at 147 was SSM and Cotto, who both did not want to fight PBF for their own reason earlier on. Plus when PBF started talking about retirement SSM was at 154 and Cotto was @140. The division only started to take shape well after the Baldy fight

Nobody. Margarito was overrated and Floyd had already left TR. No reason to go back to them. He took a much better opponent and more of a threat to beat him, in Oscar at 154.

Cotto was also with TR. Not a coincidence that Cotto leaves Top Rank and the Mayweather fight is done as soon as negotiations start.

    LOL Margarito.

    Rankings at WW

Mitchell Unranked (last time Floyd fought an unranked opponent)
    Judah #2
    Baldomir Champ
    Marquez #2 in the world
Mosley #1 #3 in the world
    Ortiz #3

Pacquiao has much worse at WW.

I guess Manny wouldn't be a good opponent either.

So much wrong with this post. Mosley did not almost lose to Ricardo.

Cotto was not at a comfortable 154.

You can use your little opinion but the facts show that what your saying don't apply.:deal:hi:

PW did not look unstoppable by any means. Go watch Quintana put on a clinic in early 2008 with him.

These people act like they know things about boxing but they don't.:patsch

Cotto said it. In one of his interviews for the Floyd fight. He also said, at the time Mayweather was the best fighter on the planet and that he was would have lost.

But, But, but, he didnt fight every fighter between 140 and 154 before he retired . . . Forget the fact that he fought the Lineal Champ (for the Green belt he loves and $8Mill) he ducked Margo for $8mill. He should have fought Margo instead of Oscar and Ricky (who people said he ducked at 140).

the Only way PBF can ever get rid of this stupid ducker tag is to come out of jail and fight all the top contenders between 140-160 once a week until he retires. if he doesn't he will have ducked someone to all the ****ing stupid haters

He has been fighting top contenders though.

Not by opinion...but by official rankings he has. Floyd has not fought a non top 3 in his division and/or top 10 in the world since Mitchell in 2005. The other best guy, Manny, has fought unranked opponents.

Mosley was much better than Margarito.
