When Mayweather retired, Margo, Cotto, Clottey were all TR. Mosley lost to Cotto, Williams lost to Quintana and moved up to JMW.

Hoya rematch would have been the fight he took anyway if he never retired. He probably retired hoping that someone other then a TR fighter surfaced so he didn't have to deal with Arum.

"We’re rivals,” Cotto said. “Mayweather is a star of the sport and we’re in the same company. Mayweather was a great champion at 130 and 135. We don’t know about 140. When the company says the time is right to make the fight, I’ll fight him.

Doesn't sound like somebody interested to me...."When the company says the time is right...."

Yeah but you keep going back to the same stupid excuses...BEFORE Mayweather retired. I see his retirement as the act of ducking. He said he retired cuz there was nothing leftnfor him to prove? Bull****! Then he comes back when the WW's already beat each other up and the top money making WW was a small guy. Too bad the small guy started beating up everybody, so Floyd again avoids his ass. He even ****ing goes away from the sport again. This time by calling it a "vacation" :patsch

Its not that cut and dry, clearly him and Arum aren't cappable of negociating with each other.

Yeah thats true, so there wasnt really anything about it seems. Another thing it makes me think is that the WW division was hyped up too much leaving people to believe that Mayweather left an extremely 'hot' division when that wasnt really the case

There was a LOT of hype, people were praying for the days of Leonard, Hearns, Haglar, Duran. People were praying that Mayweather, Cotto, Margarito, Williams were able to somehow duplicate that.

    Good points.

I'm really not sure why everyone was saying it was so amazing. People act like Cotto was a destroyer when he BARELY beat Mosley. Mosley then crushed Margarito shortly after margarito beat Cotto

Floyd came back and smacked Marquez and Mosley all over no problem

I mean when you look at it am I lying?

Cotto - definitely legit at the time, Mayweather fought him later

Mosley - Past prime, last to Cotto, Mayweather beat him (Did you believe he was over the hill when Mayweather fought him?)

Clottey - Good at the time, very doubtful would have won, gasses in late rounds - where is he now?

Margo - Questionable record and career - slow fighter

Williams - Outboxed by Quintana, only 3 WW championship fights

Division doesnt look that hot to me. It was probs the fact that 3 HOFs in May, Cotto and Mosley were there surrounded with good fighters that hyped it up

But he still fought him..at the age of 35...at cotto's weight...And the fight was made easily as soon as Cotto left Top Rank...

Thats what I'm saying. Also Berto was coming up - Mayweather probs would have fought him as well but he got beat by Ortiz and we all know where that led to.

If your gonna call a man a ducker people should at least bring something other than these weaksauce arguments

Looking back now, yes they were not all that great...but Floyd didn't know that. And he sure as hell wasn't gonna stick around to find out.

    #1 He just fought Cotto

#2 He accomplished more then all the of those guys put together at the time fighting in his 4th weight class so he should be given more respect.
