The guys I am reffering too, are guys who only or very rarley fight outside of their comfort zone in their home country. Many times against not that great competition... for example calzaghe before he moved up I got a few Zsolt Erdei - This guy fights bums in either germany or hungary. I thought he was good win he first came onto the title scene, but wow, what a ****ing load of dissapointment :-( Felix Sturm - Ok he fought outside once and got burned but, he completly ****ED UP his career. Most observers thought he beat DLH. He could have made a big name a good amount of money fighting here instead of fighitng ****ing bum's in germany(He has fought some decent opposition recently tho) Lucian Bute - This guy needs to fight outside of canada, the US is right across the border atsch. He's a good fighter, and can make a good name for himself. But getting koed(almost) by andrade, and defending against joppy in canada isnt gonna exactly make him a household name :verysad Hmmm thats all i can think of, anyone got more?
i guess in some sense adamek fits that description although his comp is legit... but you listed bute and in my mind his comp is legit too
Why are fighters BUMs if they are not American? Am I the only person who thinks the rest of the world has better boxers? Those Europeans do not come from 2nd and 3rd tier countries. They do not have to come to the US for $ or freedom. You didnt see Hopkins going over to the UK did you? Or Floyd? Even though they crowd would have been bigger. When is the last time a HW match had 60K plus attendee's in the US? Why is the World Series only for American teams? Why is it called football when you play with your hands ...
Pavlik so far. Although he said he was willing to go to Doucheland to fight AA. So don't know. And then you've got AA, who doesn't travel outside Doucheland hardly at all.
Adamek is automatically disqualified from this topic because he went to Germany and beat Ulrich. Furthermore, dspite the fact that his biggest wins have come in places with huge Polish populations (NJ and Chicago) he's not fighting in his home country and as you have mentioned, his competition is legit. Fighting less-than-stellar opposition is normally a trait that goes hand-in-hand with hometown fighters although there are guys who do fight solid opponents on home soil. Except for a couple fights, Adamek's been in there with some absolutely stylistic nightmares. Paul Briggs would have given a lot of guys fits and Steve Cunningham is as good a cruiserweight as you'll find. Jonathan Banks has a problem with fatigue but is still a pretty good fighter. Zsolt Erdei is a hometown fighter as is Felix Sturm though the latter came to the US for the De La Hoya fight whereas Erdei prefers to stay in Europe and impersonate Apollo Creed in the manner in which he picks his opponents. Rocky do you believe that Hungary is the land of opportunity? Zsolt Erdei does. He's seen you fight and he likes you.
Pavlik: Agree, after the Hopkins' *ss whooping, he turned a little bit competition shy or at least his management (almost signing contracts with the likes of Mora, a much smaller opponent at lightmiddle??). He (or his management) is ducking Abraham for a long time, forcing him to move up to supermiddle. Now our Ohio hero is a great champion without opponents. Abraham: Not agree, he is persueing a fight with Pavlik or Sturm for a long time without succes and was forced to fight average competition (besides Miranda) and eventually he moved up to supermiddle to prove that he is more than a regular abc-beltholder with 10 defences. You have to give credit to him, he got balls. Sturm: Agree, but I think if the De La Hoya fight turned to his favour that time, he wouldn't be a crappy, protected champion. He was screwed big time by boxing politics (De La Hoya VS Hopkins was already agreed on for the undisputed recognition). His last performance was a little doubtfull... Kessler: Agree, and when he went to Wales to fight JC, he got his *ss whooped. But now JC is out of the picture, he can come out of his Dannish butter cookie shell and fight the best @ supermiddle in that tournament
Kessler? Kessler has had eight fights at world title level and three of them were in his opponents home country - Mundine in Australia, Calzaghe in Wales, Hausler in Germany. After taking care of his mandatory he will be fighting Ward in the US. Not only does Kessler not belong on this list, he belongs on the exact opposite of this list.
So 3 out of 42 total fights happened outside Denmark.. so that makes him some kind of road warrior now?
