If that was the case, whwy wouldn't they just say that negotiations had come to an end because they couldn't agree? That way, nobody focuses their frustration on Mayweather. Apart from that, every version seems to indicate that both sides did agree before the deadline. And finally, why would they deny any negotiations at all, if they had nothing to hide?

I really don't have the answer but can only speculate.

As I said in an earlier post, Mayweather sees himself as the man and thinks that Pacquiao will have to come to him in order to make a fight. If you insist on 50/50 and a cutoff date, then don't even bother coming to me, essentially. His "I'm not thinking about boxing right now" may or may not be true and could be a ploy to get Pacquiao/Arum to get serious and bring a more realistic proposal to the table. It's the same as how any of us negotiate anything in our own lives. New car shopping, you pretend that you don't give a **** about the car and have other options and try to get the dealer to bring the price down. Trying to hook up with a broad, the best way for them to get crazy about you is by barely giving them the time of day and pretending that you have a million other things going on.

Fans think that boxers owe them something when all of them are doing it for reasons other than fans.

But all reports say that Heymon was happy with what was agreed upon, which essentially means Mayweather got his way. And again, if he didn't get his own way, why wouldn't he or any of his team say so? We all know Mayweather is stubborn and won't back down, so if he was forced with the choice of fight or no fight, when he chose no fight, why wouldn't he then make everyone know it's because the deal on the table wasn't good enough?

That's why I think it's more logical to assume everything was accepted and just how he wanted it, but he still didn't fight. I just can't see why Mayweather would let his reputation be torn apart if he had reason to back down. Even though those reasons may be selfish and greedy, that doesn't hurt his reputation. Backing out when Pacquiao agreed does hurt his reputation and we've still seen no defence from any member of mayweather's camp or him, just excuses.

I know what you're getting at but it seems desperate. You're actually a good poster and I don't think you want to accept that Mayweather may have ****ed up here.

Yea dude, I don't know. I haven't seen anything saying that Haymon was happy other than the "agreed to terms" **** coming out of Arum. The reports are far from conclusive.

I do remember reading something a few days ago that Haymon was grinding HBO for high-profile fights for his other fighters by dangling a guarantee for a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, which seems odd. Maybe Haymon wants the fight more than Mayweather and maybe they are at odds? Who really knows.

I personally believe that Mayweather doesn't want to fight again this year. Some have speculated that it's bc of tax reasons, others because of Roger's trial, some just assume that all he cares about money and he has made a lot over the last 10 months and doesn't need to fight right now. Any one of these could be true. I don't believe that Mayweather is scared of Pacquiao and anyone who thinks this is either a child or a nuthugging fan. Mayweather was supposedly scared of Hatton until he signed and whooped him. Same with Mosley. He was/is the number 1 P4P fighter for majority of last 10 years and it's hard to achieve that level of greatness by ducking everyone as he is widely accused of doing.

Anyway, I don't think that I'm being desparate or trying to avoid placing the blame on Mayweather. It's easy for fans to sit and judge everything without knowing the full story, especially when they have such clear bias one way or the other.

I do know that Floyd will never give in to Arum so imposing deadlines and specifying firm fight dates only hurt the possibility of them ever fighting. Arum is to blame for that. Why not have the fight in January? February? Did they even talk to Floyd about whether or not he wanted to fight in November? All of them are stubborn ****s and someone will need to give in if we are to ever see the fight.

I think negotiations happened but Pacquiao never agreed to the tests so the negotiations didn't go very far.

You still don't want to believe that negotiations could have taken place. Before Greenburg's statement Floyd people were in agreement that Arum was lying. Now we know he was telling the truth, but the issue is now everything else, spilt, testing, etc.

It's called denial. You're now denying any other aspect of the negotiations that you can point at.

You guys got Victor calling negotiations not existing because in his opinion who could negotiate over the phone impossible. Really?

"now we know he was telling the truth"....

so Greenburg saying "I was working with someone from each camp" means that everything Arum said was truthful? How do you come to that conclusion?

Where do I say that no negotiation took place? You're lumping me in with "Floyd people" despite that I acknowledge dialogue/negotiation in this very thread. :huh

Greenburg didn't say they had negotiations but Manny refused X and X. You got Oscar saying we're almost done weeks before. You got Arum (it's Arum yar I know) saying they agreed to everything. These things lead me to believe that Manny agreed to everything and the fight was close. Haymon was a happy camper wasn't he? We also got Schaefer telling everyone to stfu cuz of the gag order.

All these events spin a tale that's very much in line with what Arum said.

Hey, if you acknowledged that negotiations took place and I misread you than that's my fault. :good

Floyd Mayweather Jr and associates might be the only people on earth full of more **** than Bob Arum.

I can't believe I'm voting for Bob Arum on a poll of "who do you believe?"

With Mayweather's camp, you have only ONE major liar by association with GBP, Schaefer, but with Manny Ratman's camp you have two MAJOR liar teamed up in Arum AND Greenburg, two dudes who have been TRAINED and make their livings from inherited lying skills.
There is really no question here on which team has the most consistent and accomplished liars. It's as simple as, One against Two supreme liars.
