Old amateur videos of guys who are rank amateurs getting beat while learning their trade are pretty poor measuring sticks. By your logic Nistor and Romanov must be better fighters today than Wilder and Joshua. Joyce is far better than Kuzmin. Let me know when anyone you named are calling out the top contenders/champions.
It was in 2013! It was just 5 years ago and it was clearly a MISMATCH in 30 seconds - easy work!.. Therefore it is relevant. Whereas Wilder-Romanov was in 2008 - 10 years ago. I agree about Wilder and Joshua- BUT they have improved massively since then! Joyce hasn't. Joyce is pretty much the same fighter he was when he was in WSB in 2012/2013. Kuzmin is better than Joyce and I'd expect him to repeat the result in the pros. Joyce has chin issues whereas Kuzmin has a solid chin. Make a thread if you want - who goes further Joyce or Kuzmin in the pros and bump it in years to come - and I'd be very confident Kuzmin has a better pro career!
Lol. You're a joker lad. Out of all the prospects you named Joyce is hands down the most improved. He's gone from British title in 2012 to Olympic Silver medal in 2016. How has he not improved? and how has Kuzmin improved when he is still the same basic come forward plodder? Did Kuzmin ever even make it to the Olympics? I like Kuzmin as much as the next guy, who doesn't like a guy who comes to fight and is prepared to travel to fight. But there comes a time when you have to call out fandom bias and I'm calling you out lad. At least try to compare Joyce with future genuine contenders at his level like Hrgovic or Dychko. Kuzmin, Kean, Teslenko, Tischenko, and Gorman are future fringe contenders at best.
he really hasn't. Joyce is what he is. He's fit, has a good work rate, quite heavy handed. But has a **** defence, no head movement like a robot, a poor chin, he's always been the same. Seems like you don't even follow the Amateurs. - Kuzmin has wins over Roberto Cammerelle, Ivan Dychko, Viktar Zuyev and was European Gold medalist. he has no embarrassing 1st round losses to unknown Algerians like Joyce has Chin is very important in the heavyweights, In the heavyweights you back the guy who has a solid chin, not the one who gets KO'd in the first round, lad.
Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis and Vitali Klitschko were stopped before turning pro.
Did any of them get knocked out in the first round to an Algerian?? Vitali got stopped by a kick in Kickboxing apparently, thats hardly relevant to boxing. He has the Best chin of all times.
And the birth place of the opponent is relevant because?... You get stopped in amateur boxing, it happens to everyone, even the best, all those guys were stopped by guys that never turned pro or by guys that turned pro and weren't top level but they still were able to reach the top because you know, believe it or not, you can actually improve from your amateur days.
You missed the part about fandom bias Sergey. I fought in the amateurs, lad, and have followed boxing all my life. I know full well who Sergey Kuzmin is and have watched him closely since his WSB days. Kuzmin is good, but not that good. Tall rangy fighters of quality in the pros will have his number the majority of the time. Joey Dewjeko won 14 US amateur championship titles and gold at the 2008 world youth championships, doesn't make him a future world champion in the pros.
You missed the whole point of the forum, lad. It's all about opinions and everyone has different opinions, lad. I rate Joyce.. I think they are both top 10 HW prospects. But I'd probably have Kuzmin 5th/6th and Joyce 9/10th. Ive probably seen a lot more of Kuzmin than you, watched loads of his am fights and I think all of his pro fights. I think Kuzmin is better.. but we'll see. Time will tell, lad!
It actually is very relevant. Whether you want you admit it is or not. Trust me I know its relevant. Certain people/certain nations can really fight and others are terrible at fighting. Some countries have high standards were only a gold medal is an achievement, some countries have low standards were they think just qualifying for a major tournament and going out in the first round is a massive achievement. In sprinting for example if someone from Iraq beat someone from Jamaica at sprinting don't act like you wouldn't be shocked. Joyce got decked quite a few times, it wasn't a one off, his chin issues will come back in the pros. Not everyone gets stopped in the amateurs.
Everyone one of the prospects you name have losses, I don’t even like shakur and I know this statement is biased. Hahahahaha had to come back to this.
I watched Bakary Samake's (https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/1015543) fight this weekend, was impressed by his speed and accuracy. Gonna follow him for a while.
