Not the best but top 5 favourites....

    1. Hatton....was relentless coming through. Would fight 3 minutes every single round. Think more people need to watch his earlier fights. You knew he was going places from the early days.

    2. Tyson fury. Class. Unlike hatton wasnt all that sure he,d make it anywhere near the top. Knew he was better than he looked but never seen him getting anywhere near where he has. Class fighter and good guy nowadays.

    3. Nigel benn. Probably the most relentless fighter britains had in recent years. Absolute single mindedness to hurt you and knock you out. Was class to watch.

    4. Chris eubank. Think in the end he gets in cause he pretty much won in the end. Lets be honest we all hated him...we we,re pretty much meant to hate him. But in the end....he proved himself 100 percent 100 times over. Incredibly tough guy...i still reckon guys like froch wouldnt stand a chance against the likes of eubank and benn all things being even weight etc. Just the competition wasnt as good nowadays so froch looks better.

    5. Michael gomez. Great little fighter. Lived on the edge but brought it on fight night when he was up for it anyway. Never made it anywhere near the top but maybe could have if he lived the life. Great to watch tho if you like that style of fighting anyway.

joe was coming off the best win of his career (kessler) before facing jones and hopkins.
it's ridiculous in the extreme to suggest that jones and hopkins, who were losing as many as they were winning at the time calzaghe fought them, were at the same stage in their careers as calzaghe.

there's a reason why joe waited until they were both at the lowest ebb of their careers before going to the US.

your final comment (from above) shows that you don't understand the business of boxing, and the importance of courting the interest of the big networks on the biggest stage of all when it comes to making big fights.

calzaghe had the best fighters of his era at one division above, and one division below him, for years.
and he did exactly nothing in the US to earn a shot at them when it mattered.

You're incorrect on all fronts I'm afraid.

Do explain in which way Carl Frampton is not British? (Baring in mind that I know for a fact that you are wrong and that he woud tell you he is British if you asked him). Which nationality had you wrongly assumed he'd identify under?

Bob Fitzsimmons is from England, born and lived there throughout his early childhood until his family settled in New Zealand (not Australia).

So it is my own country, but I have no clue what I'm talking about when it comes to it....compared to you who does not even know the name of it :roflmao:
It is called Northern Ireland.....not North Ireland (which would be the North of Ireland...a totally different country) and every person born there is born a British citizen. I am one myself you absolute moron.
Hence the grouping with "Great Britain and Northern Ireland". How utterly embarrassing for you.

Whether he lived most of his life in Australia or not Fitzsimmons lived in (until 10 years old) and was born in Britain and was as such; British. That is why he was listed as British....because he was. Before his family settled in New Zealand, where he was schooled further.
Regardless of what titles he fought for in a sport, he was a British man. That's an indisputable fact.

As suggested, you'd assume wrongly. Carl Frampton is from Northern Ireland, not Ireland. 2 totally separate countries, on the same island. If you do not realise that he is British then you do not have any understanding of neither him, the political background in Northern Ireland, nor the area he grew up in.
You should feel foolish to have so vehemently argued about something you know nothing whatsoever about

They were all past their prime and as I said RJJ Vs Joe was a 50/50 fight at any time in their careers while Hopkins was an anti fighter who’d have lost to Calzaghi at anytime in his.
You can argue all you like that Jones was more last his prime than JC was but it’s irrefutable that they were not at their respective best when they met.

Of course I understand how money drives the sport, don’t be such a condescending cockhead
Are you really arguing that fighters won’t fly east across the Atlantic to win a belt!
Someone should have told Hagler, McCleland, Tszyu, Ruddock, McCall, McCallum and a whole host of other US based fighters who came to the U.K. to challenge for a belt
