Good Point. A little geographical ignorance on my part. I was only thinking of fighters from Mexico and South America, or Latin (language) based countries (Cuba, Puerto Rico).
Thanks for mentioning Mantequilla:good. You're the only one to mention him so far. I believe he would have beaten Tito convincingly. I also believe Vicente Saldivar would have beaten MAB and EM convincingly as well. I don't believe he's been mentioned yet.
Latin America means just that: countries in the Americas that are culturally dominated by Latin culture, ie Spanish and Portuguese colonial countries. The majority of the Caribbean (outside of the DR, PR and Cuba, but including the West Indies), have an Anglo dynamic and not a Spanish or Portuguese influence and cultural dynamic. Countries like Jamaica are West Indian, not part of Latin America. Jamaican Mike McCallum is not Latin American.
Sanchez Duran Teo Stevenson Chavez Monzone Lopez My grandfather swore by Kid Chocolate of Cuba. That's the only fighter he talked about when I was little. By the way Sanchez was the first boxer I really watched as I began to box. Hispanic trainer in our gym all those years ago showed him to me damn near every day. He would have been the greatest Latin fighter of all time in my opinion.
It's sad, isn't it? Just some really low-IQ posters on here. What dimwit considers Jamaica part of Latin America?
Wow so many greats... Duran Monzon Chavez Sanchez Olivares Jofre Napoles Gavilan Rodriguez Benitez... That's off the top of my head...too tough a task!!!
1.Salvador Sanchez-Greatest Mexican fighter ever. 2. Carlos Monzon-Perhaps greatest middleweight ever. 3. Roberto Duran-Arguably greatest lightweight ever. Greatest win with victory over a prime Sugar Ray Leonard. 4. Julio Cesar Chavez-Most popular and considered by most greatest Mexican fighter ever. 5. Johnny Tapia-Never in a boring fight, blazing handspeed in his prime. 6. Finito Lopez-Marquez is a poor man's version of El Finito. 7. Orlando Canizales- Chicano version of Roy Jones, amazing fighter in his prime. 8. Wilfredo Gomez- Arguably greatest Puerto Rican fighter ever. 9. Erik Morales- The Terrible One only man to humble both Pacquiao and Mayweather, gonads the size of g****fruits, living legend. 10. Juan Manuel Marquez- Tho not your typical Mexican brawler, still a blood and guts warrior and great counterpunching machine. Along with Sanchez and Chavez, has top 3 significant and historical win for Mexico.
