I never really understood why so many people find Mayweather boring. Obviously, everybody loves the big punchers who rack up the knockouts, but in terms of pure boxers, Mayweather is one of my favorites to watch. I’ve always been intrigued by his mastery of that shoulder roll defense and counterpunching style. There aren’t many guys who can really pull that shoulder roll off too well. I love watching how fast his reflexes and reaction times are too.

It depends on the fights as well.

I mean, one could quite easily never watch Mayweather vs Baldomir ever again and I doubt it would have any impact on their overall appreciation of Mayweather.

At the time Fury finally unseated him, Wlad had been the best heavyweight in the world for roughly 8% of the division's existence under MDQ rules. How that doesn't qualify him as an ATG I can not fathom.

I don't get any enjoyment watching the likes of Benny Leonard or Henry Armstrong fight.
Some other old-time fighters too. Either their styles leave me cold, or that together with poor film quality and the bad voice overs.
    It's not pleasant.
Among the more modern guys, Wladimir is dreadful to watch. I find his style interesting only for study purposes, but I get no actual enjoyment from watching him fight.
I'm not sure if Andre Ward counts, but again he's just not fan friendly whatsoever.

I agree. Him and Pernell. I can forgive a guy fighting naturally bigger men constantly and not fighting aggressively or someone like Whitaker who couldn't dent an egg, because there is so much else to like.

Where do you place him on your Top-100 of All Time, Pound for Pound?

I don't. I think that is a silly concept that bored newspapermen promoted.

The guy possessed incredible athleticism, balance, off-the-charts power, speed and technique for a giant. Sure, he had deficiencies, mostly above the neck. All fighters do. But when Manny finally tuned up his game, he was almost unbeatable for a long stretch.

Because he took the mick with many stipulations, ducked the best yet talked about how he'd beat them, "retired" when WW was red hot for a year, is currently fighting nobodies, didn't put in the masterclasses that he should have considering his longevity, ducked Manny for years, was all talk until the first bell, never beat an ATG in his prime at their optimal weight...

He's beyond boring, and his fans are more interested in his money gimmick more than anything.

    Wlad Klitschko
    Floyd Mayweather
    Borenard Hopkins

and if he's an ATG, bonus pick of
    Andre Ward

The sad thing is most of these guys actually had some exciting fights, which is what made their boring fights like pulling teeth.

Interesting. I would have thought then, with this^ being your view, that there would be little to no need to fathom why Wlad does not qualify as an All Time Great, to some observers.

Ditto, I find his fights very enjoyable.
Chavez, Ramirez 2, Nelson, McGirt 2 etc. I feel it's one of those cases of something being repeated enough times that it becomes accepted as truth.
