In Froch/Abraham I found it hard to give AA a single round. I pretty much agreed with the judge who scored it 120-108. The only thing that bothered me a little is that I think Froch could have got the KO if he had been a bit more agressive in the last 1/3 of the fight. AA was DONE by round 8, and Froch could have put on the pressure, drove AA back into a corner, and sucked the life out of him, but did not do it. Dirrell did not stand his ground enough, and consequently AA got away with bullying him several times. Dirrell also looked like he was running out of gas, and coming unstuck near the end. We will never know for sure, but Abraham may have got the KO if he hadn't screwed the pooch. Overall Froch did the better job by far, but I still say he could have stopped Abraham had he been a bit more agressive beginning with round 7 or 8.
Who won more convincingly? I'm going to pick the guy who was conscious at the end of the fight....:think
Froch clearly did beat AA more convincingly. He schooled AA from start to finish, something Dirrell couldn't do. At the end, AA was coming strong and Dirrell won by DQ and not by clearly defeating AA like Froch did.
People say Dirrell set the blueprint but that's not true at all. Anyone on ESB who has been reading threads about Abraham, has known for years about what style would beat him I, amongst many, predicted that Dirrell would beat Abraham because of this. Everyone has been aware if the blueprint for years. As for the actual fights, Froch's performance was closer to Taylor's in terms of tactics. Dirrell ran a lot in the fight whereas Taylor and, more decisively Froch, showed how to enforce physicality on Abraham, which he can't cope with. Anyway, as for who won easier, it's not close. Froch outboxed Abraham easier than Dirrell did, he didn't lose a round, he didn't lose composure and he was never hurt. It's debatable whether Dirrell would have even won, at the rate he was mentally collapsing. What's interesting though, is most people knew Dirrell's style would be horrible for Abraham, yet most people on ESB thought Abraham's style would cause Froch problems. Obviously the results of the two fights tell a different story.
I object to the theory that Dirrell "layed the blue print." **** Almighty!!! Arthur Abraham and Uli Wegner "layed the blue print" YEARS AGO!! They made it obvious years ago that there were at least two different ways to beat AA, and make it look easy.
Please explain to me how Dirrell winning 8 rounds to 2, getting knocked down and then winning my DQ is "more convincing" than Froch shutting out 12 rounds to 0.
