Fading away wasn't his choice- Don King destroyed his career for making Devon look bad and damaging the hype of Bradley-Alexander. That's why Don immediately moved him up to welterweight, dismissed any talks of a rematch, and never made any fights for him despite having the chance to coming off of his performance against Devon.

He was brought in to be just an opponent and someone Alexander would dominate. When Kotelnik didn't play by the script, King punished him by effectively ending his career.

What one of the top U.S. promoters did to their countryman almost certainly had an effect on the Ukrainian Olympic stars' decision to join the World Series of Boxing, as well.
